Electrolux 1205 Will Not Turn On

The metal canister bodies made after the Super J have a larger opening that can accomodate a regular 5.7" motor". If you compare them side by side, you will see the later canister bodies have a round opening.

I found some old pics. These are from my two Diamond Jubilee's whuch have two different motors. I believe what you have in your machine is the motor on the left. The one on the right is the Electro Motor style with the plastic cap.

    Trash Find—Electrolux Diplomat

The 2100 series (Ambassador. LE, etc.)plastic canister vacs have dual stage motors in them, just like the older electrolux's. That being said, I gave away to my SIL, one of mine that I upgraded to an Ametek Lamb motor (5.7"). I am currently working on another one that I am upgrading. Here are...

    Trash Find—Electrolux Diplomat

It is worth fixing, I have a couple of original motors for them, and the cord is easy to repair. The control valve is easy to bypass, and keep things simple. There is a proper way to split the case to work on it.

    Electrolux Silverado Model 1505

    Electrolux Silverado Model 1505

The different motors could be due to whatever Electrolux had on hand. The Silverado metal canister shell & later had a larger opening for the motor. It can take a modern 5.7" motor due to the larger hole size. I have models with both kinds of motors, and some with the plastic extension,

    electrolux model g power switch

Well, based on the pics, it looks like I have a model G switch. My dad scrapped some older Eloctroluxes a while back, and took off some parts he thought might be useful for somebody. Take a look. I only own Electroluxes from the 1205 and later, nothing earlier.
