    Electrolux Model B-8 Maintenance

Thanks, Jimmy. I just wanted to ensure that my B-8s were well-lubricated even though they don't get as much use as vacuum cleaners. Considering their age I thought I should at least check. Didn't know the bearing caps had to be broken to get at the bearings--so I guess I'll leave them alone...

    A Tale of Two Silverados

Oh, I almost forgot ... I used the wrong term in describing what I thought was a difference in the wheels of the two featured Silverados. Instead of 'diameter' I should have referred to the 'width'. On reconsideration, I agree with you that they are the same size.

    A Tale of Two Silverados

Good detective work, everyone. I appreciate these types of discussions as well as those like Jimmy Martin (rugsucker) who speak from first-hand knowledge. You're right--we bring different perspectives and ideas together to synthesize our ideas. Charlie Lester and others have an abundance of...

    Electrolux Model B-8 Maintenance

Let me know how you maintain the motor of your Model B-8--what kind of grease you use on the gear and bearings. I'm also wondering how to remove the two front spindles and how to remove the bearing caps (see photo below).

    Electrolux 1451 Upright

Well, I have not seen one in the last couple years on eBay and an image search didn't produce one. If you still have it you might want to keep it. Here's a photo of the sand/jade 1451E name stamp up close:

    Electrolux 1451 Upright

Check this information on the rectangular Electrolux uprights partly from instruction manuals (1978 Model 1363; 1979 Olympia One; 1981 Olympia One; 1982 Silverado; 1984 Diamond J) and partly surmised (as to exact years of changes) due to limited documentation and lack of personal observation—as...

    A Tale of Two Silverados

For DJub85 and anyone else that may be interested here are photos of a recent eBay listing which shows the two Electrolux Silverado versions together. The early ones, with the S_A affixes had the early Olympia One handle & finger grip carriers while the mid- to late ones had the two handles...

Electrolux 1451e heavy duty automatic upright.

A few questions ... 1) Does it shut off automatically when the bag is full, or does the bag light just illumine? 2) What is the length of the cord? 3) Have you looked at the motor brushes to see how worn they are, and did you have the bearings greased?

Electrolux "Concordia" Omni-Flo Automatic Power Nozzle

I'd like to see a Concordia cleaner, too. I'm guessing it looks very similar--if not identical--to the Hi-Tech 2100s. Thanks for the information, Tom.

Wanted: Advice on How to Clean the Outside of a Woven Hose

Thanks, Mark. I thought maybe diluted laundry detergent might do the trick, too.

Electrolux XXX (Model#30) New Owner Questions!

Welcome to Vacuumland and congratulations on your preservation propensity including your recent $2.00 Electrolux Model XXX purchase! Here is a link to Charlie Lester's website: http://1377731.com/lux/luxxxxxx.html He is an avid Electrolux collector and historian--among other things. I did...

Electrolux "Concordia" Omni-Flo Automatic Power Nozzle

Edgar, Thanks for your response. I too, wondered why no model id was stamped. Perhaps--as happened with Hoover cleaners (since those were also stamped on later instead of being on a pre-printed name plate)--it was a result of error. One would think that no matter the label the model would be...

Electrolux "Concordia" Omni-Flo Automatic Power Nozzle

The grid background on the label is the same as that of the Hi-Tech 2100-labeled ones (1986-88).

Electrolux "Concordia" Omni-Flo Automatic Power Nozzle

Does anyone have any information on this "Concordia"-labeled Omni-Flo Automatic power nozzle by Electrolux? No model id was stamped in the typical place.

Wanted: Advice on How to Clean the Outside of a Woven Hose

I'd like to know what you use to clean the outside of a woven hose. I have some Electrolux ones that are grayer than others, so I tried using dishwater (with Dawn soap) and a rag but didn't see much, if any, improvement.

    Electrolux 1205

Good information, Edgar. Here is some additional information and a few corrections: 1) "Golden J" is a nick. The official name in company literature is simply 'Jubilee'. Its model designation was also 1205, but service manuals tacked on a 'J' for reference purposes. 2) The Olympia Ones...

Soon to be buying a Hoover Dial a Matic that will replace my Hoover Convertible U4403

Congratulations--looks like it's in great shape! I'm not a Hoover expert, but here are two possibilities of the years of your cleaner based on the colors. I located the information on another thread: 1965-66: Model 1130 (Spring Green and Taupe Light, Medium and Deep) 1966-67: Model 1149...

    Electrolux Lx

@vacuumlad Regarding the combination tool if you don't get any responses from Vacuumlanders try checking with your local vacuum cleaner store(s). They sometimes get attachments with trade-ins and do not charge as much as eBay sellers--or so I've found. Thrift stores, garage sales, and...

    Electrolux Lx

@ray I got confused because of the name badge. I thought the yellow and red ones were smooth and the later aluminum ones--like Vacuumlad's were embossed. They must have been switched out unless I'm missing something. I will say, though, that many of the early ones were retrofitted with the...

    Electrolux 1451 Upright

Overall a good cleaner--some have mentioned that it is heavier than Kirby cleaners of its era! Yours would have been sold at the same time as the Model 1401 or 1401-B/Olymia Ones. Here is another thread with some good information: http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?25720...
