    Electrolux upright

I found this Electrolux Regency Series upright vacuum, model 1572E at a thrift store this week. I tested it in the store and the carpet setting on the switch wouldn’t engage the brush roller. Probably the reason it was taken to the thrift store in the first place. But, I figured for the $6.98...

Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum - $34.99...

Thanks Patrick. I received the same message today that my order was still processing: "Your order is currently still processing. Due to high order volume, orders may take 5-7 business days to process. Once your order ships you will receive email confirmation of that with the FedEx tracking...

I was robbed, robbed I tell you

I've had that happen many times. The best thing to do (for your own sanity) is enter the maximum you are willing to pay for the item, then walk away. If you sit there and keep refreshing, you will likely end up paying more than you wanted to and potentially regret your decision to spend so much...

Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum - $34.99...

For those that ordered from the Direct Tools website, about how long did it take for you to receive your tracking info following your purchase?

Finally a new vacuum I am impressed with

@kenkart I'm sure your house is perfectly clean! No vacuum (that I am aware of) will capture everything. I think both straight suction vacuums and those that agitate the carpet with a beater bar are both good.

Finally a new vacuum I am impressed with

@kenkart ...and you can go behind any straight suction vacuum with a revolving brush and still capture dirt that was left behind by the previous vacuum. No vacuum is perfect.

    Christmas gift advice!

You might want to check out this vacuum from a recent thread on here: https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?37495_45 It's bagless, but $25 is a great deal for a Hoover! Many vacuum enthusiasts frown at bagless, but if your sister isn't one, she probably wouldn't care if it...

    Christmas gift advice!

Most of the older Electrolux canister models can be had fairly cheap. I often find them at thrift stores in my area, but they show up on eBay all the time as well. Models like the 1401, 1505 are pretty robust. The plastic bodied Electrolux Epic models also are very nice machines.

    Christmas gift advice!

Does it have to be a new vacuum? I personally would have no issue with receiving a used bagged vacuum as a gift, but some may not like this. If it has to be a new vacuum and money is tight, you may consider something like the Bissell Zing. It received 4 out of 5 starts on Amazon from over...

    Kenmore stick vacuum

You're right Cole, they want too much for it on Amazon and the Sears/Kenmore website. Maybe it will go on sale for Black Friday. I don't usually have an issue buying things like this on eBay, but if it ever breaks within the first year warranty, you'd be out of luck.

    Kenmore stick vacuum

Well, I guess that is better than no warning at all. There doesn't yet seem to be a best cordless stick vacuum around. I've looked through dozens of them. Oreck seems to be the closest with the pod concept and decent battery life, as well as indicators to show you when the pod needs to be...

    Who has a daily driver?

My daily driver as of late for daily cleanings of the hard surfaces is the Oreck pod vacuum. So easy to grab off the charging dock, takes no time to vacuum the house. And I love that the dirt is contained in the cloth pod, so no bagless mess to contend with. For the carpeted den (which I don't...

    Kenmore stick vacuum

Hi Justin. I figured the Kenmore wouldn't be anything special, but I'd rather buy one that does not require the user to hold down a trigger to vacuum. I understand the purpose (to save battery), but I wouldn't buy one that requires that. Also, after reading some of the reviews, folks complained...

    Kenmore stick vacuum

One thing that attracted me to this particular model (similar to the Oreck) was the wall docking station and the ability to use the vacuum without having to hold down an annoying trigger button to operate. There was a mention in the FAQs regarding run time, but not sure if the answer actually...

    Kenmore stick vacuum

Can anyone tell me anything about this particular stick vacuum by Kenmore? I wanted to get a vacuum for a family member for daily quick pick ups, but the Oreck pod (which I have) is still too expensive. I haven't been able to see this stick vacuum in person at a local Sears, but if anyone has...

    Vintage Sandwich/Panini grills?

Are you looking for something that is specifically for sandwiches? There are a lot of vintage appliances that doubled as waffle makers and had removable flat griddle plates that could be used for pancakes and sandwiches. I think the most robust such appliance I have found was made by Sunbeam...

Nice collection Tom and a nice shelving unit to display all those beauties! :) Wish I had more space to display mine.

    collecting other appliances

Nice Barry, sounds like you collect some interesting items! I too like lanterns, but the ones I have are Coleman liquid fuel camping lanterns. Bill, I too like irons, but usually some of the General Electric ones from the 70s and 80s. I wanted to get one of the Oreck cordless irons since they...

    collecting other appliances

Rex, luckily the wheels on mine are still in good shape. Have you checked to see if the wheels can be replaced? We have a store in town that repairs luggage, though may be cheaper to buy a new used one versus the cost of replacement wheels. I had the wheels replaced on a smaller Hartmann...

    collecting other appliances

Luggage Does anyone else collect or have an interest in luggage? I love coming across great deals on used luggage in thrift stores. Like vacuums, I have a fondness for luggage that's well made and durable. Most of the durable luggage I have found has been from the 80s and typically USA made...
