I am looking for a recommendation on a vintage electric sandwich maker. Someone donated a Clark Snakmaster to my Goodwill, but I think it is from the 90's. It got me interested though!
 
Are you looking for something that is specifically for sandwiches? There are a lot of vintage appliances that doubled as waffle makers and had removable flat griddle plates that could be used for pancakes and sandwiches.

I think the most robust such appliance I have found was made by Sunbeam from the late 40s through the 60s or so. This version had the removable plates. I found one on ebay for sale:
