    Identify Kirby help please

This vintage Kirby is Model 519 and dates back to 1959 and '60. There are many of these still in use today. My parents had this same model and now so do I. Amazingly, there are still most replacement parts available for Kirbys of this vintage.

    What Would You Have Bought?

1960 was the year I was born ---- so I would have purchased either a 519 or 560 model Kirby (complete set) with a credit card , of course. Those models were just so beautiful when they were new.

I need to know this, What are the dimensions of a Kirby Handi-Butler belt? ( models after 511)

If you have trouble finding one--- you could always try a used (not overused) regular Kirby belt. It would be easier to install. It should not have any cracks in it.

    Kirby art

Using Kirby to spray paint I have been using two of my Kirbys (a 519 model and a Heritage II to spray paint for years. Filling three spray guns with diluted paint is convenient for me so as to not have to refill the jar so often. This can be very messy and you will need to protect the...

Old Kirby with kevlar replacement fan

Four months ago , my model 519 Kirby had the fan replaced with a plastic one. When I use the hose, the motor now sounds like a chainsaw. Is this normal?

    Kirby Fan Durability

Recently ,I took my 519-model Kirby in for servicing to replace the fan after it shattered into several pieces after vacuuming a small fragment of plastic using the hose and crevice tool. I am shocked that this happened -- as I am always cautious about what I pick up-- and the fan was metal...

    Kirby Sani-Emptor Modification

A strip of black electrical tape--- Along with a Heritage II -type fan gasket really helped. The seal is perfect. I do not have to spend money on a new mini-emptor. Thanks so much for the advice.

    Kirby Sani-Emptor Modification

Is there any way to alter a 500-series Sani -Emptor to accommodate a fill tube and bag for a Heritage II? A few years ago, I retrofitted my 519 model with this type of bag assembly, but just recently found some thin plastic broken away inside the neck of the Mini-Emptor-where the rubber...

Kirby Spray Gun for Spray Painting

It works best if you dilute the paint with the right amount of water. Oil based paints are another story though. I have used three spray guns at a time which is more convenient so as to not have to refill the jar as often. Due to how messy this can be ; you will need alot of protective...

Way to beautiful to leave behind- but to what does it belong?

Or 519 I have seen this exact set with plenty of 519 models. So it was sometime during the production of this model that the fastening collar ring of the hose and the blower coupler were manufactured of red plastic instead of plain metal.

    Polishing my Kirby 561

Or you could use another Kirby if you have the Handi-Butler with the buffing wheel on the flexible shaft and one of the polishing compounds; it does a great job.
