Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Sanitaire 677D with VGI Brushroll I debated which vacuum to follow up with. My Filter Queen? or My Hoover Celebrity with the Quadraflex brushroll. Or . . . But alas, I chose my wife's Sanitaire with the VGI brushroll. It's the same brushroll in my Tristar, so I thought that would be an...

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Tristar CXL with VGI Brushroll I used a genuine Tristar bag. This is the result of two weeks of vacuuming with two dogs, and four kids and their friends in and out of the house. The bag was completely full. The photo really doesn't do justice to the actual contents. It was packed full!!!!

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Divorce Averted!!! OK! This test almost caused a divorce in my house. My wife prefers to vacuum with her Sanitaire 677D. I, however, prefer my Tristar CXL that I bought at Goodwill last year for $10. She didn't think the Tristar would clean that well. But I put a VGI brushroll on it that I got...

    NIB COMPACTS?????

Actually I think the guy may have some left. Keep watching Ebay. When he had them listed on Ebay a few months ago, I didn't realize they would go that fast and let one slip away. However, I contacted him through Ebay and he told me he did have some additional machines. So he sold me one...

    Cleaning a neighbor's apartment

The reason I like my Tristar is that I like looking at all the debris after I vacuum! Is that weird?

    Kirby G Series machines

I had a Diamond G and just gave it to my Mom, complete with attachments and Rug Renovator. It is a great machine. She just wanted to borrow it to use the Rug Renovator. But after vacuuming with it a few times, she decided her carpet didn't need the Rug Renovator treatment. So I just gave it all...

    Kirby G Series machines

TechDrive The TechDrive (transmission) shifts much more smoothly. In fact, it shifts so smoothly that you don't really notice it. The G3 was a little jerky.

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Straight Suction Comparo It would be interesting to test my Tristar CXL w/ Power Nozzle (VG I brushroll) with my Compact Electra straight suction vacuum. Maybe that's what I'll do! Using the Compact rug nozzle will provide quite the workout too!

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Basis for comparison Tristar, did you intend for us to compare our results with each other or with a different test vacuum that we own? I was thinking of using my Hoover Celebrity with the Quadraflex nozzle for two weeks and then compare it with my Sanitaire 677D after two weeks of use.

    Oreck Test

Twice a Month Around our house, we usually use a Sanitaire daily and a Tristar CXL once a week. With two dogs and kids in and out, that will fill up the bags in both vacuums in a month easily. That didn't seem unusual to me at all.

    Kirby Rug Renovator Question

I'm using my Rug Renovator for the first time tonight and it doesn't foam nearly as much as the one in video demonstration. In fact, it foams very little. Does anyone know if that's normal? The sponge and everything else is in place (I think!).

    Kirby Rebuild

Non-Original Owner The price Kirby quoted me ($350 plus tax and shipping both ways) is for those of us who are not the original owners. I found my G5 at a garage sale in fairly decent shape for $15. Right now it's working just fine, so I'll skip the rebuild!

    Hoover Quadraflex brush strips

Local Stores I've heard they don't make just the brush strips anymore, which means you may just need to try local shops. I had to buy a whole new brush roll from mine last year. I had to search high and low for one at a decent price but was able to find it. I just don't remember where I got it...

    Filter Queen PN Question

I think my Model 48 is mostly plastic except for the base plate and the motor bracket. I haven't noticed any difference in how well the PN 48 and the Majestic PN clean. To me the big difference is the headlight! LOL! I've never used the newest PN. Though I wonder if the generic brushrolls work...

    Kirby Rebuild

Clarification The quote they gave me was for a G5. I wonder if that price is high because of the TechDrive. Perhaps its lower for the pre-TechDrive models.

    Kirby Rebuild

Somewhere on the forum someone was wondering if Kirby will rebuild a vacuum for non-original owners. The answer is yes -- for $350 plus tax and shipping both ways! Ouch!

    Filter Queen Clamp Dilemna

It looks like there aren't many people interested in Filter Queen on this forum. I haven't had much response to my Filter Queen questions either. I wish I could help you, though!
