Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

Just to clarify, that bag was brand new at the start of this test. What you see in that bag came from a week and a half of regular vacuuming. I NEVER thought I'd say this, but, after schlepping that Concept 2 up and down the stairs everyday for a week and a half, I need an Oreck 'cause my back is killing me!

Ill post mine later or tomarrow

when the camera comes back. I too need a new one,so ive been using Moms. I think I will fallow with the Hoover shabby in bagless mode. Its the better of the two bagless i have.

Divorce Averted!!!

OK! This test almost caused a divorce in my house. My wife prefers to vacuum with her Sanitaire 677D. I, however, prefer my Tristar CXL that I bought at Goodwill last year for $10. She didn't think the Tristar would clean that well. But I put a VGI brushroll on it that I got from a brand new Kent (Eureka) power nozzle that I also bought for $10 somewhere (I don't remember where now). That price alone was worth it for the brushroll. And it's brand new! So I had to agree to do all the vacuuming for this two week test. I put a brand new bag in her Sanitaire at the beginning of the test period and checked it every day to make sure she wasn't trying to sabotage the results when I was at work! LOL! So the results follow.

Tristar CXL with VGI Brushroll

I used a genuine Tristar bag. This is the result of two weeks of vacuuming with two dogs, and four kids and their friends in and out of the house. The bag was completely full. The photo really doesn't do justice to the actual contents. It was packed full!!!!

Sanitaire 677D with VGI Brushroll

I debated which vacuum to follow up with. My Filter Queen? or My Hoover Celebrity with the Quadraflex brushroll. Or . . . But alas, I chose my wife's Sanitaire with the VGI brushroll. It's the same brushroll in my Tristar, so I thought that would be an interesting comparison. I was surprised at the amount of hair, dirt, and grit that was still left in the carpet. The Tristar did an excellent job. Even my wife admitted it! But the Sanitaire is definitely a deep cleaner. Again, the photo doesn't really do justice to what actually came out of the carpet.

ive also learned that nothing compares to a sanitaire comm...it deep cleans...plain and simple....have you tried both the vg1 and the vg2 rollers...if so then who wins and why is it your favorite.....ive read where eureka said it was by far their best broll [vg1]...but nothing better than user input.

VGI vs. VGII

I've heard that the VGI design helps to produce better airflow, but I certainly can't verify that. I do have an Air Storm vacuum that I put a Tristar power nozzle on. That PN does have the VGII brushroll that I took from an old Eureka PN. I recently put new brush strips in it so maybe I'll have to do a test of the two different brushrolls on my Tristar CXL. That's what I'll do. I'll do a one week test with each brushroll and post the results. I'll use the Tristar CXL only in the test since the Air Storm has a more powerful motor.

great idea..cant wait to see and hear results .i want a vg1 but not gonna pay 40$ for it...so im keeping an eye out for it at the shop....but they toss every dam thing in the trash....so its a crapshoot till paydirt..hard to hit the jackpot when you only wrk a cpl days a week....but i have no shame in a dumpster dive....i assure you....as long as its vac related.

So here is what mt tradition got out orf my carpet.
I used my legend II bag setup, and the tradition only has a 2-row brushroll with soft brisstles. BUT i think it did a pretty good job.

Interesting to see everyone's results. I will have to post my results in 2 or 3 days, I dtarted a day late and with work it will take until Monday before I have a chance to take pics, I am with Bobby it will be quite some time before I use a canister again, I am tired of pulling the Air-Way behind me, I cant wait to get back to my favorite daily driver, the Concept One.

Sorry 6 days late,10 dollars short lol.

But here are my results,(the poor Royal) the last time I vacuumed with this vacuum wasv Friday, I intended to vacuum on saturday 1 last time, then go over with my bagless but the hose was full of people. Sorry about the poor quality too. I will get a new camera soon I hope.

#2

I was surprised it didn't loose much suction. Mabe because there wasnt alot of fine powder. I don't use carpet fresh often because of the dog and cat.
