Best new upright for hardwood floors

Emer Donatello I had this same situation a few months ago. While I know that tanks and canisters have their place, I really like to use an upright. I had an Oreck that had been used on my hardwoods for several years. It finally died, and I needed a replacement. I checked out stick vacuums and...

    New *Quiet* Upright

Emer I was looking for the same thing about a month ago. I finally decided on the Emer Donatello with the power nozzle. It is really a cool, powerful vacuum. The power nozzle is easily removed and a floor brush or hose can go in its place. I have been very happy with mine. Do a search for Emer...

    favorite bare floor tool?

combo Is there a good all purpose tool out there that will go from carpets to bare floors without changing anything? Seems that I remember the GE tool would do that. I also really like the Lux flip over tool, but mine has lots of "drag" on area rugs. Anyone else had this problem? Tim

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

Give me bags any day! Thanks for your response. I was really hoping someone out there had used one of these to tell me about its performance.I haven't found anything on the web or you tube about them. I'm with you, Kenmore81, with bagged machines. I can't stand bagless machines. I bought a...

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

? Here is the Dustcare Evolution Lite that I am considering. Has anyone used one before? What do you think of it? Is it like the older Panasonics? http://cgi.ebay.com/Upright-Vacuum-Evolution-w-5-Bags-Warranty-Great_W0QQitemZ120391653331QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c07e6d7d3

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

Miele or something else? I am selling the Oreck. It's just too annoying to deal with and repair. I have found Miele stick vacuums for around $300. I have never used one. The Emer with the power nozzle is on ebay for around $200. I have not used or seen one of them in use either. Can anyone tell...

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

Looking to sell? Does anyone have a stick vacuum (Hooover, Eureka, Lux Trivac, Miele, Emer) that is bagged that maybe you are looking to sell? It seems the ones I find on line are bagless with the exception of older ones or very expensive ones. I found an Emer on E-bay, but I don't know very...

Any one have a Elux model E motor

Filters I have never seen an original filter. What were they made of? I have cut a filter from some filter media to fit mine. Thanks for the compliment on the Bounce sheet. I use my E with a wall/brush attachment. (The chrome/aluminum kind with tan bristles) Was this original to the machine...

Any one have a Elux model E motor

My E! I have a model E that has a model G motor in it. A little vacuum shop here is run by a former Lux salesman. He found a model G motor and put it in my machine. It's so fun to use-So quiet and powerful. It's even quieter if you put a filter in the exhaust end. I don't have one in mine right...

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

Thanks for the pictures. I am going to look into my Oreck again this weekend. Do the black dots on the motor connections mean that is where the black wires go? Tim

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

I think I have the wires on the right way. Would it make it louder if it was wired backwards, or would it even run? I'm wondering if it is because it's a generic motor. When I tried to put the metal fan on the machine, I couldn't get it on tight enough because a socket won't fit down inside the...

    Stick (lightweight) Vacuum

The Oreck Well......I did replace the motor about a year ago. But every since then it has been such a SCREAMER that I can't stand to use it. It was loud with the original motor, but now it is unbearable. I even bought a metal fan to put on it, but that didn't help any either. Maybe I did...

The Oreck Gave Up the Ghost!!

piano Rick, I play the piano. It is a 1924 Henry Detmer. Don't know much more about it other than I bought it from a restorer here who bought it from a doctor's estate in Cartersville. The restorer said that it was possibly an Aeolian owned company, but who knows? The action is a little...

The Oreck Gave Up the Ghost!!

I thought I would share my opinion of my new Hoover Whisper I got to replace the Oreck. I replaced the Oreck motor in January and it is already making horrible sounds again. It hardly picks up. I'm tired of fooling with it. The Whisper lives up to its name. It is SUPER quiet. The suction only...

    Hardwoods and Area Rug Vacuum

Thanks Ohio Tuec I appreciate and value your advice. Mine is an XL2600. I think I will replace the fan and motor. Does the metal fan make it quieter than the plastic? increase airflow? Can the scatterguard be replaced also? Tim

    Hardwoods and Area Rug Vacuum

Oreck advice If there are any Oreck experts out there who can advise me on which way to go with the Oreck, (motor, fan)please chime in. I think it may be cheaper to fix it than buy a new cleaner. How do Riccars do on bare floors? They look like the old Panasonics that were so good. I have...

    Hardwoods and Area Rug Vacuum

Thanks I didn't know that about Kirbys. I'm not real familiar with them, just that they are heavy. I sure hope someone with Oreck knowledge will chime in and help me make a decision about what to do. (metal or plastic fan replacement? replace the whole motor?)
