If you could only keep ONE vintage Vacuum Cleaner, which would you choose ?

I would have to chose the Kirby Classic Omega. Has excellent suction and grooms the carpet beautifully (4 row brush roll), has a HEPA bag system (Mini Emptor with a Hertige 2 outer bag, and G series fill tube, i use the G 4,5 bags), Rug Renovator System, Bare Floor/Miracle Head System, Handi...

    Ugly Duckling

Whats sad is that the bags for these models of Electrolux Uprights are no longer avalible, and have not been for seveal yrs now. The bags getting very hard to find now in this day and age and are practically non existant. Those that do have them are hoarding and not letting go for dear life...

Favourite Vintage Brand and Why ?

Richard in Florida,i agree and see your point, but i have to agree to disagree that the last best Lux was the Olympia. I have a 1984 Silverado that has been going strong ever since it was brand new, and to this day (July of 2012) is going as strong as ever, and It has had VERY heavy use over...

    Singer vacuum of the Day!

Yes, that turbine nozzle was called a "Preco", and was avalible with alot of cannister and central vacs in those days. Back in the late 1960s, early 70s, we had several neighbors that had Beam Central Vacuum systems installed in their homes, and most all had this same Preco Power Brush. I...

    Kirby limited 2001

Thats exactly what i was going to say. Take it to your nearest Kirby Service Center and have them fix it, they will know exactly what needs to be done. And, the cost shouldnt be that high, as it sounds like an relatively fast and easy fix.

Anybody deny letting you see they're vacuum?

I could write a whole book on this subject! My love affair with vacuums started practically the minute i ever saw one. It was my Grandma's Electrolux Model E rigged up with a PN1. Both sets of Grandparents were very understanding about my interest in vacuums. Both Grandmother's incouraged it...

    Sunbeam Courier canister

I remember these vacs in the late 1960s, to early 1970s. They were Sunbeam's answer to the Hoover Portable, and the Eureka Crown Princess. So these were made around that same time frame of the "All in One", 'Carrys and stores like luggage" type of cleaner. I also remember them not being all...

Thank you for scanning those, i love looking at vac manuals! Even tho i cant read or speak Italian, these are really interesting. I have never seen or heard of a Vorwerk before joining this club. Plaster Dust Test

Awhile back i had a room addition built onto my home, thus creating A huge amount of plaster dust, both in the new room itself, and also thruout the rest of the house. If you've ever dealth with LARGE amounts of plaster dust, you know how badly it lingers and flys thru the air. Its evidently...

    Electrolux Ultralux Classic

Yes, thats right, the regular tan/brown Marquis. Also, be aware there were problems with SOME OF the Marquis motors burning out fast,,or faster than normal, than any other model up til that time. This was also true of the brown/beige plastic (Canadian) model 90 that was sold at the same time. I...

    Electrolux Ultralux Classic

Forgot to say,,IF the machine, its hose, and PN are in bad condition, or need ALOT of major overhaul,,,forget it. 120 is WAY too high. An UltraLux Classic is about 20-25 yrs old ,,and they are NOT that rare. Needing general maintence is one thing,,but if the machine has any major problems or...

    Electrolux Ultralux Classic

Yes its a good deal, IF the machine is in good condition, and it has all of its attachments, and the hose and PN are in good shape. Remember that some of the original hoses sold with the UltraLux Classic were the older, braided type, and will leak air like a seive sooner or later. IF the hose...

Notice the Donaldson's ad too,,another long ago and long standing Minn. dept store. Also recognize...
