[super-sweeper]

Hi guys i just got this cleaner,And while using it i noticed considerable differences in sound as i cleaned.When i took the nozzle off to inspect for a foreign object,I noticed that i could wiggle the main spindle (Is that the proper name?It's the thing that turns the belt)by ALOT.I'm assuming bad bearings?And what on earth am i going to have to do to get this cleaner to work?
(By the way i have a donor G4 model in reach).

I believe that is a sign of bad bearings but I'm not sure.

Loose spindle?

IT could just be a loose spindle tightin it by turning it left,while cripping the fan with neadle nose pliers.Perhaps the fan is missing the back or front washers,I don't see that many G6's with a shot front bearing.

I can wiggle the entire thing,as in up/down,It feels like the entire armature.
Do you ahve any advice on taking it apart?

It could also be a sign that the rear bearing support is worn and letting the bearing move around.

To date I haven't torn apart my G4 or G5 to really get a good look at the new motor set up. On the Heritage II it is a pvc type end cap on the back side of the motor that holds the rear bearing in place. Plastic parts will deteriorate from heating and cooling cycles and wear down to a point where the part is supports gets loose.

I suspect as things arent made to last these days It will have a similar type bearing retainer cup at the rear of the motor.

The pre 1980 machines used a metal bearing cup to hold the rear bearing in place.

You will need a torex screw driver set to remove the screws that hold the motor shell casing together.

Alex save your self a lot of time and get it fixed the right way by a Kirby dealer in that way their is no chance of breaking the machime Doug

Thats exactly what i was going to say. Take it to your nearest Kirby Service Center and have them fix it, they will know exactly what needs to be done. And, the cost shouldnt be that high, as it sounds like an relatively fast and easy fix.
