Is an Electrolux Ultralux Classic for $120 a good deal? If so, could I get any more money off it on eBay when I get bored of it?

Yes its a good deal, IF the machine is in good condition, and it has all of its attachments, and the hose and PN are in good shape.
Remember that some of the original hoses sold with the UltraLux Classic were the older, braided type, and will leak air like a seive sooner or later.
IF the hose is the newer, plastic "Saran Wrap" type, you should be good to go,as long as there are no kinks,holes or smashed in areas.
Make sure the hose in in good solid codition with no leaks, bends or holes.
A hose in good condition is a very important part to an Electrolux such as this.
As is the Power Nozzle, and its brush roll. (If you are using it for vacuuming carpets)
A good way to tell how much use an Electrolux cannister has had, is to examine its brush roll and PN and its wheels for wear.
Also examine the machines wheels, and open the bag chamber and examine the inside without the bag. If there is a heavy coating of dust on the inside of the bag chamber, chances are the machine has had alot of use. And/or non genuine Electrolux/Aerus bags were used.
Also, With the bag door open, and with NO bag in the chamber, hold the bag indicator button (the button on the inside of the cover, that pushes against the bag when its installed, when you close the bag door) down, (push it in and hold it) and turn on the machine.
Listen carefully to the start up, and shut down of the motor. Listen for any whining, screeching or unusual noises,,,especially in the wind down after you shut the motor off. (Do this by letting go of the bag indicator button, because this will test the Automatic Control. When you let go, the Check Bag Indicator light should come on the second the motor shuts off.)
(Any screeching,whining,or unusual noises indicates motor and or bearing trouble,,and heavy use.) May need a new motor or at least motor service in the near future.
As for re-sale value after you have used it,,well, its a big question mark. You MAY be able to get your money back, maybe not. Just depends what someone is willing to spend.
IF the machine, its hose, Power Nozzle, and attachments are all in A1, shiny new pristene condition, with NO blemishes, dings, dark spots or signs of use, you should be able to get your money back easily.

Forgot to say,,IF the machine, its hose, and PN are in bad condition, or need ALOT of major overhaul,,,forget it. 120 is WAY too high. An UltraLux Classic is about 20-25 yrs old ,,and they are NOT that rare.
Needing general maintence is one thing,,but if the machine has any major problems or issues,,or if the machine itself, and the PN are really dirty, abused, or neglected,and/or the machine's motor or the PNs motor sound bad ,forget it.
In that case, the whole thing is only worth about 20 bucks, if that.

Thanks for all the information. I'm a little blind to the canisters. In the classifieds in the paper it says it has been cleaned, lubed, and serviced. I will see about that

Also, what canister would've corresponded with the Discovery III upright? I want to say a regular Marquis because of the color, but I'm unsure.

You are correct, I bought one of each at the time. They were on closeout. Upright $250.00 and Canister $500.00.

Yes, thats right, the regular tan/brown Marquis.
Also, be aware there were problems with SOME OF the Marquis motors burning out fast,,or faster than normal, than any other model up til that time. This was also true of the brown/beige plastic (Canadian) model 90 that was sold at the same time. I believe they fixed the problem in mid production, but be aware of any Discovery 3, Marquis, or Model 90.
I heard an Electrolux Branch Manager who had been in business for over 40 yrs, say once that any Electrolux cannister with the RED lettering above the bag compartment that says "Use Only Genuine Electrolux Bags" in RED,, may have motor issues sooner or later, as a different(Cheaper and problematic) motor is used.
The bad news is that i think all models from the Diamond Jubilee on have the red lettering,,and ive seen some Silverado's with the red lettering also.
This Lux Branch Manager said that he had NEVER had ANY machine WITHOUT the red lettering come in because of early motor trouble or early burn out,,but had MANY, WITH the red lettering that DID have severe motor trouble. Infact,he said that some motors were burning out within DAYS after purchase. (Evidently the Marquis was the worst offender)
So, moral of the story,,if you can find a Silverado, or any machine that is older (Olympia, Super J, Golden J, 1205, Model G, ect) that is in like new, pristene condition,with a strong sounding motor, used very little,owned by the proverbial little old lady from Pasadena that only took it out for a spin on Sundays,, does NOT have the red lettering above the bag compartment,,,GRAB IT and HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE!!!
