    My Electrolux 1205 Golden Jubilee

When I dug into it, I was surprised to see a circuit board! I did not know that Electrolux ever used a circuit board in its metal tank models. Someone has modified it for some reason.

    My Electrolux 1205 Golden Jubilee

Original Attachments? The hose is obviously a replacement, but I wonder if the attachments are original. They are the same teal green as the earlier 1205. Also, the release tab on the wand is teal green. The other thing about the wand is that there is not release for the lower wand to come off.

    My Electrolux 1205 Golden Jubilee

I've had this for quite a while, sitting in a box in garage. I don't even remember where I got it! But I had some spare time this weekend and decided to give it a spa treatment. Like quebecois' Super J, it had that funky vacuum smell. So I disassembled the motor and gave it thorough cleaning...

Super J motor cleaning or maybe more...

Congratulations on a job well done! About the only way I know to effectively rid the vacuum of the funky smell is to remove the motor field from the bell housing and wash the bell housing thoroughly with degreaser. If you don't want to remove the field, then use a brush to get as much...

    Carbon Brushes for electrolux motors

Yes, it seems that brushes for older models are not to be found (at least online). I've thought about finding similar size brushes and soldering them onto the old mounting clips.

    Hoover Portable Model History

@ Paul Wow! What a wealth of information! Thank you! I guess the one my Grandmother had was the earliest model...It definitely would have been mint green. It went right along with her green carpet and green tweed sofa! I don't know what happened to it, but she eventually got a green Hoover...

    Hoover Portable Model History

I'm just wondering if someone can shed some light on the Hoover Portable...it's model history and years of production. Original cost, etc. My Grandmother had one back in the 60s. I always thought it was cool because it looked like a piece of luggage. I think her model was green. Someday, I...

    Electrolux 1521 Question (Diamond Jubilee)

@ MadMan They are both Electrolux motors...they both came out of 1521s. I ended up using the one on the right, because it was already fully serviced and ready to go. The older looking motor with the metal bearing bridge is the original motor that came out of the Diamond Jubilee pictured.

    Electrolux 1521 Question (Diamond Jubilee)

I've heard some people sing the praises of the Lamb motor that is in the Electrolux knock-off, but this motor has more than enough power.

    Electrolux 1521 Question (Diamond Jubilee)

I looks like it was well cared for and has little use.

    Electrolux 1521 Question (Diamond Jubilee)

I decided to install the new motor in the Diamond Jubilee!

    Electrolux 1521 Question (Diamond Jubilee)

I've read on the forum that the early 1521 motors were problematic. I just disassembled an early Diamond Jubilee, and it's motor is pictured on the right. The other motor is a genuine Electrolux motor that came from an Ultralux LX. The Diamond Jubilee was very clean, with very little dust...

    Today’s Cleaning Ensemble

Very nice! The older I get the more nostalgic I feel! It's amazing that a 70 year old vacuum cleans as well as it did the day it was delivered. I doubt that can be said about most of today's over engineered plastic stuff.
