    new hoover turbopowers FOR SALE

I think this thread needs to be closed/locked as it is never going to get back onto the original topic.

2 More HOOVER factories are closing

With every factory that closes, I am thinking more and more along the lines that Hoover needn't even exist anymore.  What used to be a market-leading brand is now no better than a cheap store brand vacuum cleaner for goodness sake.

Look what I picked up today

Were those Singer vacuums ever popular, I wonder?  There don't seem to be too many around these days, but that is never a true representation of their popularity 60+ years ago, of course.

    Hoover Dail A Matic Day

<span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">What a beautiful Hoover!  Here in the UK we had them but under the name "Convertible" and they are quite rare.  </span>   <span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">I will definitely have to find one someday! </span>

    Rechargable Numatic Henry vacuum !

<span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">I never trust any battery powered vacuums, or anything for that matter.  In situations where mains power was not available however this may be of use - but £400?  Hmm, a bit too pricey for me, even if it is a Numatic.</span>   <span...

Miele launch the 700W S8 Silence Plus Ecoline in the UK

<span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">I am very glad to hear that a big and respected brand like Miele is launching a low-wattage vacuum.  Hopefully other manufacturers will follow and people will realise that you don't need in excess of 1000W to clean efficiently.</span>   <span...

    Vacuums that make you satisfied

    <span style="font-family: times new roman,times;">John, I am in complete agreement.  Hear hear.</span>

    numatic filters

<span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">If they won't clean with soapy water then I would replace them.  If you want them purely for collectable purposes then you could try a small dose of bleach in warm water, but I wouldn't suggest using them after that as the filtering ability may...

Daily Mail: Weird world of the men obsessed with vacuum cleaners

"And which one is that jmurray01?" <span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">Which fence or which side thereof?  </span>   <span style="font-family: times new roman, times;">On both accounts, the fence whereby you are either tolerant or not, and the Daily Mail and its readers are...

Daily Mail: Weird world of the men obsessed with vacuum cleaners

I think it is safe to say which side of the fence the Daily Mail and their readers are on!!

    A 1920s Hoover Vacuum?

I personally would buy it for that, but I'd wait and see what the more experienced members say.

    Two mixed up Hoovers!

Well that's something you don't see everyday!

    A 1920s Hoover Vacuum?

How much is the seller asking for?  If it is low enough I'd just buy it and worry about the possible problems later.

    Hoover going to ebay

I have never seen that model before with the HOOVER lettering on the hood!  Please post plenty pictures of the restoration process if you can as I for one would love to see them.

    My Hoover 119!

Panic over!  I finally found the missing nut and have assembled the 119 and rewired the plug (plus fitted a 3 amp fuse to replace the 13 amp in there - big surprise) so tomorrow morning I'll test it out for the first time.   The dilemma I have at the moment is when I come to re-paint it...

    My Hoover 119!

Now here is where I would normally post a picture of it all back together and ready to test out, but only I can't.   Why?  Because when I went to put the handles on I discovered that the nut for the upper handle has gone missing.    I had it last night with all the other bits and pieces...

    My Hoover 119!

I suppose it could have been worse - at least none of it disintegrated!

    My Hoover 119!

As is common with these old models the rubber seal on the fan housing partially fell off when I took the fan out so I expect some whistling when in use, but at some point I'll buy some sealant and do a proper job.

    My Hoover 119!

Fortunately the brush strips are in very good condition and don't need replacing.
