My name is Ethan, and I am a bit of a vintage appliance nerd! My main thing is trucking and farming (I drive tri-axle and quad-axle dump trucks and do farming on the side) so I am a major gear head! My main hobby is virtual farming and I collect 1/64 scale farm equipment. I am also a lifelong fan of Cadillac and I already had one HD pickup so I bought my dream car last year (a short wheelbase 2011 Escalade Platinum) for my 2nd. My vacuum is a beautiful 1986 K31X with a that was bought as a "bootleg" machine from a dealer in 1989 by my grandma. I bought it from her in 2013. Mixer is a 1977 KitchenAid K45, blender is a 1980s Oster 16 speed. I can fix about anything.

Welcome aboard Ethan! Think you will be right at home here! You'll soon find that several members here have other vintage appliances beside vacuum cleaners. I also have about 7 vintage Lawn-Boy mowers, the oldest being a model 3100 from 1957, and this year we did most of our mowing with a 5234 (I think that's the right model number) from 1966.

Thanks! My next mower will probably be a Lawn-Boy. I cut my grass a little taller to get lines. If I ever buy a place with a big enough back yard, I will get a 1980s John Deere 430 Diesel (looks like a miniature 4850)

Thank you. I am working towards making a 1:2 scale finished product, with three wheels and one bench seat, which is a 'velomobile' that requires no license or registration to drive. I am making the 1:8 from card, 4.5/6mm dowel, hot glue and small amounts of cellotape.

Very cool! I want to see it when it's done! I have built stuff like that before.

Hope you're planning on getting a vintage Lawn-Boy. Don't think they're making them anymore to begin with, and any of the ones in the last several years they were built didn't even deserve to wear the Lawn-Boy name. I think when they were bought out by Toro it was the beginning of the end.

Old is gold!
Yes it is! Eventually going to buy another Filter Queen if I see something I must have. I prefer pre-Majestic machines new as I would go is a 95X and mine is a late K31X as when it was bought in 1989 or 1990 from A-1 Vacuum in Indianapolis. My grandma gave $600 for it probably was a demo machine. It has no model tag or serial number. Honestly shocked my machine isn't a 95X.

Good to have some nice variety. Have you ever tried a Kirby or Electrolux?
Ran both, not a fan of uprights and do not care for the twisted belt design, but good machines. An Electrolux fills up too quick for my liking but really like how it runs. They are my 2nd choice of machine. My 2nd machine will be another Filter Queen as I have a lot of accessories.

That makes sense. What accessories do you have? I have a Majestic 360 (single speed) from 2005, too new for my liking, though still pretty good, with the standard tools and powerhead, mini turbo tool, fragrances, flexi crevice tool, massager, sprayer, original shampoo, moth crystals chamber, angle piece for going on the exhaust, bit of foam for use with shampoo and a couple extra little things that I can't remember. Sorry for not attaching photos, it will be in the shipping container for quite a while.

I have a motorized mini pow-r-nozzle on the way here, a 1959 model 70 power polisher, and a 1959 500 brochure.

I also live in a 110 year old house converted to a double flat layout in the 1950s remodeled in the 90s. Keeps my living costs low and has everything I want. Have a gravel parking lot in back big enough for my 3/4 ton pickup truck and my Escalade and plenty of space to work on my vehicles. I also do my own light maintenance on my house and do my own landscaping as I get that deducted from my rent.
