Help Support VacuumLand:

The Intelligence is so fragile, especially the bottom, I have a hard time believing Electrolux AB designed it.

All of the plastics in the Sauber models seem to be very poor - the difference between a Lux 1 and the Sauber internally is like night and day - the sauber motor is just a single stage unit that is also used in wertheim, pullman, hoover and other backpack vacuums - definitely NOT a lux product. The plastics used in the base, lid and throughout the sauber are so thin and brittle that you can snap them by hand, or they shatter if exposed to shock. I tried to dismantle a sauber and things just ended up breaking apart, definitely not the sort of high quality thick ABS plastics used in the last of the Lux 1 Royal / 820 models. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sauber intelligence is one of the reasons that Godfreys went bust, so many warranty claims and pissed off customers who found bits of their $1500 vacuum would snap/break/shatter so easily. I didn't recongnise much Lux / Electrolux internals inside the Sauber. Most Saubers are now being sold on marketplace for $200 or less.

Thinking out loud, but because the Sauber was sold through Godfreys and it shares components with Wertheim/Pullman/Hoover vacs, would it have been commissioned by Godfreys and built by Wertheim etc? I remember when they first came out, Godfreys had old Electrolux 300 / 700 series vacs on display next to them in stores and were touting the Sauber intelligence range as the successor to the Electrolux vacs and a high quality vacuum that were just as good. Ironically you'd now pay more for a good / restored Electrolux than a Sauber.

Hey a lot of them looks very similar to the Eropean once with other colours or a bit different features. I have a lot of docs and pics on my Instagram or YT channel. Most of my appliances are made in Sweden.
Thanks for the photos and information. Until this thread I had only seen a UK AB Electrolux model list. Do you have a document showing the earlier Swedish cylinders, too? If so, I am interested in viewing it.

Wertheim like Hoover in Oz or Sauber are not vacuum manufacturers. They are just brand names Godfrey's owned and put on vacuums made by other companies. The Sauber Intelligence / Lux Intelligence / Aerus Guardian Platinum / Eureka-Forbes Euroclean Xtreme is made in Slovenia by a company called Kolektor ( at least there name is printed upteen places inside my two Guardian Platinums ) a company who's bread and butter are automotive electronics, big industrial power equipment ( think the stuff you see in a big electrical substation or hydro power plant ), robotics and production line automation. Making vacuums seems like an outlier for them just based on their public website. Their name comes from their historical line of work, operating mercury mines from Ottoman Empire times through the latter years of the Yugoslav Federation when they began to branch out.

That Wertheim 7 sold by Godfrey's is the same vacuum Simplicity sells as the Scout and that Airway Sanitizor sells as the Airway Ultra Kleen. It's also sold in the EU with Sattrap branding and in Iran as either the Persia France or the "Rugen Germany" RU-1110. Rugen Germany, made in China by Qingdao Creation Industry & Commerce Co Ltd.

Obtw, the motor in my 100 volt Lux 1R D820 that I bought in Japan is the very same single stage VM3 motor that so many revile. When I took it apart to replace the golf ball-esque outer skin and do a thorough clean up I was expecting to find the big two stage Swedish motor, especially considering its prodigious airflow and silent operation. So imagine my surprise when I opened the motor compartment to see that little conical motor sitting there. Still I can't argue with how it performs. It's one of the most powerful vacuums I have, spanks anything Electrolux Inc in the US ever made for suction and airflow, embarrasses my Mieles and Sebo C3.1 too, and is super quiet. Maybe the best vacuum ever made.
