VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I already have a used U2462...why would I want another, well, a brand new one is different but not another used one. I am kicking myself for pulling out on that U2462 but ahh well, I will get over it.

josh

can some one tell josh don't open the vacuums leave them in the box

I would NEVER take any of the vacuum out of the box

Alex - I have no affiliation at all - and I bid on most of the items myself.

However I don't expect to get outbid, lose the item, then 30 minutes later being asked to buy the item because the winner didn't feel like paying - that's not how it works Alex.

If you are outbid and lose an auction, you cant hang around on the off chance of a second chance offer every time when there are other items to bid for.

well Sam

I know I did not have money but one jalf thinks don't do this, this is wrong you can't afford it. The other half thinks, ooo, this could be a once in a life time oppertunity to own brand new cleaners so make hay while the sun shines.

Unfortunately the devil took over and the outcome was not pretty.

Like I said I could of paid for them as I have a planned overdraft but for what it would of been worth it was best to not buy them. There was no excuse for my actions but I followed my heart and not reality.

Fwiw I think you probably did do the right thing by pulling out of the Vacs judging by what you've said, but hopefully your learning a lesson on why not to bid in the first place if you don't have any intention of going through with it

Oh I had full intension of buying them but when it went that high and I found I was still the highest bidder I couldn't justify it if they both stopped at 200 quid I would of gone through with the purchase but at 650 well that is just to much

But when they reached £201 each surely you should have thought twice about carrying on! Someone who would have paid the money could have won it for less, and posted a lovely detailed thread so we could all enjoy it! Then not look at it again for a few decades

If the Airstream had been the earlier one which I didn't realise until I checked my early one which is Z1490 and not the later Z1495 I would of bought it for the £250 which is what I bid, I only bid the once on the Airstream

But Alex - earlier in the day today, you retracted the £550 maximum bid you made on the U2462 - because Josh was snapping at your heels. Then, you go and bid even more on 2 other items, and when people start bidding up towards your maximum bid, you got the willies. Do not place a maximum bid on an item unless you expect the bidding could reach that amount.

Alex

Alex, we are giving you a break but other sellers would not care less where the money was coming from. To bid for fun is not fair on others who are bidding for that item.

Please bear in mind that if you decide to bid on any further items from me I will expect payment immediately and will not be entering into any second chance bids. Zero tolerance from here on in.

I don't want to spoil the excitement and the fantastic amount we raised tonight.

And tomorrow we have the DC01. I hope it does well as I have declined exorbitant offers to give everyone a fair shot at it. After tonight's Dyson performances I'm wondering if I've done the right thing...

And I SO want to unbox a Hoover bagged vacuum and see what you all love about it so much but its worth more than my Miele cylinder so I will have to stock with my Automatic TT5000.

Your right Steve but I set it like that because I was in work till 8 tonight as usual so didn't want to miss out have you never wanted something that much that you are tunnelled into what you are doing without even thinking about the consequences of what you are doing.

I think you should unbox one! You WILL need a new belt, but you would have a top vacuum!

You could have one on display in your shop. Leave all the promo stickers on it etc and have it as a conversation piece. Sure we could tell you what's worthless (if you know what I mean) and worth sacrificing.

The DC04 went for £264, which wasn't a bad price, I am bidding on the other DC04 Zorbster, but I will no doubt be outbid, as Josh has expressed an interest in it. I expect the DC01 to do very well, but ultimately you have to decide whether to pull the listings and sell privately. As you have seen - bids go crazy in the last few minutes, and there will be undoubtedly a lot of watchers on that DC01.

May I suggest that you always start the bidding at what you expect to get for each item, then if it doesn't sell, you will not have lost money on it. Starting items at a penny with no reserve can be a huge risk

Alex, one of the things you do as an adult is you learn to grow up, take account of your own actions, and act like the adult you are. Under the circumstances, I think the seller has been overly fair with your behavior. YOU have cost her a lot of her time in sorting this mess which YOU created for her. Frankly, I don't think you understand the half of this. I am amazed you still have the nerve to be talking about it so publicly.

JESUS CHRIST everyone give me a break I am sorry for what I did and don't dare think I had no intension of buying them...of course I did I would not purposely push the price up for everyone, I am not vain!

I think you are blowing this out of proportion and as I said I won't be doing it again. I understand we are all perfect then except me. Talk about patronising.
