Your most FAVORITE vacuum

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I have a few.
The Panasonic 40 and 50 series machines - purely because of the memories behind them, Sebo X1 and X4, Hoover Sensotronic and Turbopower total systems and the Kirby Tradition.

No favorites - I love all my children equally...cue smarmy tear-welling music.

When I turn my eyes a few degrees in any part of the house I spot a new favorite every time. But to contribute to this thread I choose to choose the 1948 Brooks Stevens designed Modern Hygiene cylinder because of its relative scarcity and superb complete condition. This week anyway. :-)

Dave that is a beautiful Modern Hygiene. One question in your picture what is the clear plastic piece with the attachments in the lower right hand corner?

Gregor is correct and wins the vacuum...!

oops, kidding. No, he doesn't and can't. Rules stipulate that one must have a completed profile and birthdate to win. Whew, dodged that bullet...:-)

Terry, the raised portion on the felt pad is a silver painted wood handle shape that keeps the pad centralized and level in the nozzle - it is held in place by suction alone. No clips. The only missing piece is the bottle brush dust snagger that clips to the crevice tool - same as the Westinghouse T-6 has. Simple enough to fabricate...

Doug, the slim sleek one sniffing the accessory suitcase is 12 year old Hector, His longhair black brother Dexter passed away 18 months ago. All grown up huge & sturdy at 19 months is a healthy & robust 'kitten' Felix who resembles Dexter in so many ways.

Electrolux xxx (Hence the name lol)
GE swivel top
Electrolux prolux
Hoover 28, 61, Dial A Matic, Constellation, and last but not least the Aero Dyne
Dirt Devil Softbag and mvp deluxe models

Kenmore Ken- Kart

My favorite would have to be my 56 PINK!!!! kenmore kenkart,it is the only kenmore that has a curved lower wand, the attachments go on like a eureka, the machine was made by Birtman co., who made all k.mores thru about 57, until whirlpool bought them out, the purchase which was a sears idea did away with the birtman built motors ,after 57 they all had lamb motors, I also have a 57 kenmore horizon, which has the birtman motor.

Modern Hygiene

Beautiful machine!

Next to my Electrolux model LX that is my favorite tank machine. My step dad used to sell those in the early 1950's.

Do you have any history on it? Do you be chance have the instruction book that you can post I'd love to see that.
