As this forum is for vacuum collectors, we (as a group) are far from your typical consumer. A huge majority of us collect (and use) vintage vacuums but many of us do not care for current model bagless vacuums. Our answers to your survey will be much different than the answers of a typical consumer. Again, a large portion of us have many multiple vacuums we choose from when we clean our homes.

Tom is correct. I checked out the survey and it only concerns users in the market for new model canister vacuums not vintage collector vacuums.

While I agree with Tom that most of us have a favorite older vac & hose & set of attachments & bag system that we use I fail to see why this would be a waste of time as there are many intelligent comments here now and recently on Dyson,Miele,Sebo,Tacony,Aerus and much more.

Hold on a minute here. How would this be a complete waste of time? Last time I checked, there has been A LOT of talk here & people buying new canister vacuums, the Aerus Guardian Platinum & Simplicity Wonder / Riccar Prima being examples here. I think the whole point of someone who prefers vintage canisters to participate in a survey would be to explain WHY they prefer older machines, & what features they would want to see brought back from their favorite machines. If the people behind the survey took that information, combined with the person's vacuuming experiences, it could lead to new & better products being developed.

Collectors BEWARE!!!

I took the survey, several stupid questions like 'why do you like clean floors?' DUH!!! Kind of insults our intelligence. Clearly not geared to the collectors, I smell a sales pitch.

I did

the survey, while not logged in. I stated if I spend more than $500 US for a cleaner, it should last a very long time, and not need costly bags, filters, or regular costly upkeep.
As for homes with pets, that is a no brainer. You clean more often, unless you live in squalor, or enjoy fur balls and dander.

I would have to agree with Alex on this one.  It may be useful to some folks but it is not geared to folks like me and Alex who have no interest in modern plasticrap vacuums.

Yes, I did take the survey Stan. I would agree, they could have asked some better questions. But, could they have really known precisely the right questions a vacuum collector would want to be asked on a survey? Probably not. And is there really a "correct" set of questions for a survey? No.

Reality is, a normal consumer would have thought the survey was perfectly fine & just answered the questions, & chances are the people behind the survey thought they were targeting normal consumers by coming onto Vacuumland.

Caligula - Ok. So let's say the survey WAS a prelude to a sales pitch. What would have been so wrong if it was? What if the sales pitch was for a product you would have been genuinely interested in, & not have known about or discovered by another means? I don't think you would be so offended in that case by the questions in the survey.
