Jack- How in the hell does your dog not get up and run out of the room with a vacuum that close to her?!?!?


((Beautiful dog, and fabulous window treatments, btw))  Any dog I've ever had was completely terrified of the vacuum..


 


I've been using my new Panasonic on the carpets the last few times I've vacuumed upstairs.. I haven't vacuumed the HWF's in a while.. I should get around to that..

I have two theories on dog/ vac. 1, vac is not on, bag is stuffed to appear so. 2, sedated animal, though I would imagine growing up with Jack that the sound of a vac is pretty normal for her. Pretty dog.
 
A daily driver of mine...

Would have to be my Royal Procision 3050
I got it from my local thrift store for $15
It has all of the attachments and runs amazingly!
(i have my rainbow cord around the hose because the hose has a short, but no worrys! i have recently ordered a new house for it!(: )

Today, I used 3: 2100 SE for bare floors and dusting, Discovery III for carpets, and Epic 6500 with Sidekick for sofas. I have on occasion used up to 6 machines in one cleaning session, but if I'm not in the mood, I'll just grab the first one I see and use it for everything. </span>

Daily

I use my central system every day AstroVac SR52 with Cen-Tec CPB-100 tools and Wessel-Werk EBK 360 power head. Does a great job. Burgundy carpet and a dog shedding it is a must. I am also anal about a very clean and neat home.
 
My Little Dog...

That I had nearly 16 years LOVED the vacuum, she would come running and stand beside me until I ran the hose up and down her back!
 
I must be in need of new meds guys. I have inside closet that I keep daily driver and sometimes a bonus machine to use, the rest lined up in the garage, sealed, not drive in style, with oriental rugs even! Well, this week, the closet has seen change 5 times! OCD? Oh please, probably worse than that. Never can make my mind up on what I want to use/ hear/ play with, or works best. Good I have a choice anyway. Currently there is stacked, Sliverado, T series, and Miele. U know what one I like best, but a bit heavy and clumsy in my smaller space and NO way when the sciatic is acting up. Everyone else completely crazy too? Only kidding a bit, take care guys, d.
 
I had vacuum loving doggies, too...

Both would work their necks under the Rainbow D4 hose which meant they wanted to be groomed with the duster brush. Topaz would attack the P/N, but lie close to the Rainbow just running to freshen the air.
 
Mine is

a Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition. I have a new Sentria but I like my Diamond Edition better. And when I do all the above the floor stuff I use my Electrolux Ultralux or Gaurdian..

Giving the cat a brush with Groom yesterday evening - he loves it! Not sure why the video came out sideways... just grabbed my iPhone to film with my free hand.

Jack, that is one hell of a cat! My lil' lady doesn't like being brushed (although she is long haired so it has to be done) and she CERTAINLY doesn't like the vacuum. She's alright with Henry and with the Miele...they're about the same size as her and she could probably take one of them in a fight lol. But the uprights? No chance!

Current daily driver is my Henry and my Electrolux Airclean :)
 
Rex, add me to the list of people who prefer to use Kirbys, as well as Royal, for carpet and rugs only and my canisters(Rainbow, Fairfax and Lux 1205) for everything else. Today I used one of my Frankenkirbys, a D50 with Heritage handle and bag, to sweep the carpet. Then I used the 1205 to do the floors of the kitchen, both bathrooms and then vacuumed cat hair off the couch and bed spread. My cat, Shorty, is a long hair and has been shedding like mad. How can any animal shed THAT MUCH hair and NOT be bald? Oh,well. The vacuums are kept well fed.

I've never really been big on bagless vacs, that said...my mom recently has found last year's bagless curbfind that she loves has become a bit too heavy to push around, and has decided she likes the lighter Panasonic Jet-Flo I had in storage there a bit better. So I brought the other one home to try and have been using it for a couple weeks. I'm loving this orange monster, and my poor tri-star is being neglected.

Justin-glad you like your Kirbys and Royals for carpet-and canisters for the other jobs.At this time your cat would be shedding his winter coat-remember animals like cats and dogs have more hair follicles than we do and they are more active.Humans,as you may notice shed too-you will find our "hair" in beds,favorite chairs,areas were hair is combed or brushed,and bathrooms where you towel off from a bath or shower-and don't forget the hair that goes down the tub drain!We shed more than you think.Of course your vacuums will fill up with cat hair faster than with yours.I remember a cat and dog in our household-filled up vac bags quick!
 
My daily driver is an Oreck BusterB canister that you see given with the uprights on sale. I bought it used but mint and cheap. It works perfect for my job as a piano tuner cleaning out pianos before tuning or servicing. It works well with a modified car detailing kit. I've tried other brands and such like Metro which had too much power for delicate parts and could hardly find bags for to a Hoover portapower that was too big and died after a few years.

I love this little guy as it does seem like it was made perfect for my line of work. But on occasions, I still like to ask the client to borrow their vacuum for cleaning just to see what they have and what it's like.
 
I have a couple Oreck Buster "B's" in the closet-I don't know but when using this vacuum it blows out the dirt I just picked up-weird-the bag and filters are in it right.The vac service places here have the same comments.the Hoover Port-A-Power is better along with the Riccar-Simplicity model.I also like canisters that sit on the ground rather than being carried.and the standard canister is more powerful and filters better.
 
I've not had any problems with anything being exhausted out. I picked up nearly two pounds of sunflower seeds that mice had carried under the keybed in a piano with out anything spewing out. More power is a bad thing as I am working with delicate piano parts. I'd rather clean them than break them as what happened once with my short lived porta-power
 
For cleaning delicate things such as inside of musical instruments,electronics,Copiers,and other such things most vacuum companies make miniature attachments that can fit on most machines.they even have air vents on the adaptors to reduce the power-or when you use the small attachments on full sized machines with variable power-you can dial it down.I have seen these attachment kits sold for Meile,Sebo,Kirby,Royal,and others.3M company makes a nice vacuum for cleaning copiers,printers and such,bet it would be good for cleaning out piano keyboards and such.comes in a kit with the smaller attachments,special HEPA filter cartridges that hold the debris you pick up.I have used these-its surprizing how much the thing can hold.Was great for radio station studio equipment maintenance.The canister came with a strap so you could sling it on your shoulder-or just rest it beside you.The hose was short like the Buster vac or a backpack vac.And with the 3M vacuum-if you hold and move the hose right it can make musical sounds!
 
I have a modified car detailing kit that I put on a suction control to adjust. I fill up bags pretty fast and the Local Oreck Store is very kind to me by giving a big discout on bags. Aside from the bad rap Oreck seems to have on here-( even though I'm not a big fan of the uprights) I'm very happy with it and spend far less on it then a Miele or 3M or Sebo. I paid $30 for it in next to new condition vs. The $120 commercial that quickly wore out on me. In fact, I've been doing piano work for 12 years and have worn out 5 other vacuums while I've had the Oreck the longest with no signs of it wearing out ( knock on wood).
 
I use my Kirby Diamond G on a daily basis.  However, I'm in June into a house that is maybe 60% hardwood and 40% carpet (mostly the bedrooms).  So I guess I'll keep my Kirby on the bedroom end of the house and my Tristar on the other end for the living areas. 
 
Thats great the little Oreck canister has lasted you a long time for the piano maintenance jobs.I used to see those machines in the vac shops here--burned out motors.The bags got too full and the motor blew out.Oh yes, lots of wood to knock on in the piano!Another person that had good luck with the small Oreck "hip vacuum" canisters was a housecleaning service here.She has a couple that look like they went thru a war-but still work.The strap hooks were broken off-so the vac shop tech had to fabricate new one for the machines.He was also trying to sell her a new small Simplicity vacuum.She wanted to keep the Orecks.
 
I change my bags regularly~ sometimes as much as three times a week. If I pick up any items like mice poo, then I change the bag quickly after. It's a little workhorse.
 
Daily Driver.

My daily driver is a black Eureka Litespeed Model 5847 with gray accents.
I am very fond of this vacuum. I use it when I don't feel like getting out the Miele and all its attachments.
