Help Support VacuumLand:

My Aunty with a Dyson DC14 blitz it used to have that EXACT model, with a cable rewind! It lost suction and didnt work anymore, they Vax 121 was also crap, they say the DC14 they have now picks up loads and works really well. Still working today in the rough household
Btw Citroen, I though you were gonna show us a house, lol

...and there is Mr. Parwaz turning this into a Dyson conversation AGAIN.

This has nothing to do with Dysons. NOTHING. You really need to stop forcefully injecting Dyson into every single conversation, it's getting ridiculous

No, I was saying that my aunty who owns that DC14 had the hoover model, and I was trying to emphasise on how rubbish it was by saying that the dc14 is much better. this was said to emphasise how crap the hoover was because I am sure you have had experience with a DC14 so you have an idea on how rubbish the hoover was and what DC14's are like![this post was last edited: 10/13/2014-08:56]

Yes but the neighbour down the road has a vintage Hurricane based on the Vortex. She's had it for many years - one person's opinion is different to another - its just a shame that your experience seems to mention Dyson all the time, Parwaz. My name on here may well be "Sebo_Fan" but I do like other brands and have shown that with other threads I've created, or contributed to.

Other members too mention other brands, outwith what they might choose to favour or use as their daily driver.

Thanks for letting me know, but I didn't intend to link Dyson into the thread, it was just to compare the two machines. Apologies to everyone for the confusion.
I do like other brands such as Kirby, Numatic and Vax.

Well, as an owner of a Vax 121 and then a Powa model, I can't say their suction is bad.

Infact, in my opinion I think they were probably the best British gadget Vax ever made. The quality slipped however when they moved production sadly, and of all places in the world, which must have been a smack in the face for British buyers, Vax set up home for sales of all of their tubs in Australia. The tub could have stayed here and progressed - when you look at Karcher and other budget rivals who are still selling 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 machines - there's clearly a market for them, even if most are bulky and heavy.

Nice vortex! I quite like mine, pulls a surprising amount of crap out of the fairly regularly vacced with whatever I have lying around carpet!

Watch the cord rewind button, the pins are very fragile. Also, (sorry to say) a cut up dyson pre motor filter is a good replacement to the stock one, which is shocking. Probably why they died a death early on.

Motors are dc04 amtek jobs should it ever go bang, and bearing replacement is doable!
