Would sellers consider this weird/unreasonable?

I want to buy some interesting vacuums on ebay for my collection but I live with people that are always at home.

Would it be considered weird/unreasonable if I asked if a seller could ship in a plain box?

Im limited right now to what i can buy since I have to either purchase in person or use amazon's ship in plain packaging option but I wanna get some vintage ones so I was thinking of asking sellers if they can ship in plain packaging. I don't want to be a pain so I thought I would ask here first if it is unreasonable.

Let me know if this isn't the appropriate section for this thread.

I wouldn't say your request is unreasonable. BUT, be warned - if you ask them to ship in a plain box, and they have to pay extra for it, they will likely either refuse or insist you pay the extra cost for the box.

Actually most private ebay sellers that I have dealt with have shipped in plain boxes anyway, or maybe boxes with Amazon, FedEx, or USPS printing on them, but nothing on them that would indicate a vacuum cleaner being inside. And Elliott, I seriously doubt that someone would ship a vacuum cleaner in a banana box--too open and not enough protection there.

When I still operated my vacuum shop, I had so many empty boxes from all the vacuums we ordered and sold. I always shipped in one of those boxes. I remember sending a Hoover to someone in a Riccar box, the kid was so excited because he thought his mother bought him a Riccar. Turns out it was the old Hoover he bought on eBay. He was pretty upset about it, but since he was an adolescent I didn't give a damn.
