Quick question you guys, what is the best way to clean and oil the brush roll bearing for this self propelled Windtunnel? It spins freely, but feels kind of crunchy like there's dirt in them. Thanks in advance!

sterilize the operating room!!!!

Here we go!

Remove the plastic sides off the brush by turning them in opposite directions, only one will pop off for now.

You may now remove the metal shaft, tap it out with a hammer if necessary.

This will open the bearings to oiling, clean any dirt and lube with 3-in-1 oil.

Reassemble and HOOVER away!

Hope that helps!

Make sure when you go to the store, that you specifically get 3 in 1 "Special Blend for 1/4 hp Motors Or Larger" SAE 20 Motor Oil. The SKU on the barcode is 6153601045. The bottle is white & blue. This 3 in 1 oil is specially formulated for motors & bearings inside motors that will see heavy-duty usage, & unlike regular 3 in 1 oil, won't run dry as easily. They should both be right beside each other & cost the same.

Thanks for the help guys.

He is a video of it after servicing the brush roll, also changing the belts and bag. Works like new again and no more crazy noises from the brush roll! The motor however makes a strange sound on shutdown, but it's done that the whole time I've owned it and hasn't caused a problem so I'm not too concerned.

Personally,

I use Marvel Mystery Oil to lubricate the bearings in brush rolls when I service them. It runs super smooth and makes the vacuum smell minty fresh!
