Why Tristars?

I can only say, tough design, live forever, perform well, unchanged really in forever. TWA Can't be wrong, right? Wait, they failed.

i love my cxl... mint condition for a 1992 model. indestructable. rode 3 1/2 hrs in my trunk by itsself completely unharmed. "bagless" design - it has a bag but can a giant wod of pet hair or w/e can be removed

Incredible suction on the CXL design, excellent power nozzle, again on the CXL design, and damn near impossible to destroy.

Of all the canisters I've tried or owned, Tristar is hands down the best. Its design is simple, yet powerful. The Eureka made power nozzles with Vibragroomer brush rolls are outstanding. It also provides excellent filtration and the bags are very easy to change. I found one in a thrift store a couple of years ago for $28. It was the very first vacuum that I actually disassembled and work on. After I cleaned it up, it look almost brand new. The paint is very durable.

tristars are very excellent cleaners!!! only thing i don't like about the new ones (owned by elux/aerus0 is the pn, they don't clean as well as the one from the cxl or a vg pn

I agree with all that was stated by other members above, I have a Tristar CXL which is very light, easy to get around with, excellent suction, and very durable. It is probably by far the strongest cannister I have seen or used, cleaning results better than any other cannister I have seen. The bag is easy to clean, and the attachments are super. I have never seen or used a 'new' model, so I am not sure if the new machines are as powerful or durable, but would like to hear from other members who have a new machine what they think of it!

Note-keep in mind the "Vertical bag" canister like the Tristar is used in other vacuums-Schottler Engineering Patriot,Vortech Force, and Miracle Mate. Its an EFFECTIVE design-the air isn't sucked or tried to be sucked thru dirt and debris already in the bag--but OVER it-the original design of the Compact(Interstate Engineering was an aircraft and aircraft parts builder during WW2)the hose intake angle in the bag is the same as the pitch angle on most airplane wings-and the wingtip "vortex" is what makes the machine work.
