Why are Carpet Cleaning videos so satisfying?

It's amazing the differnce that makes. Myself, I enjoy taking something dirty apart (say a vacuum for instance) cleaning it up and putting it back together and watching the dirt wash away.

Do you mean those Kenmore Powerspray/Home Cleaning Systems? I found one of those this year at a yard sale and bought it, since I'd always wanted one but only seen one other in all these years. I don't have the Spraymate attachment though, which I heard was effective but too loud.

I always thought they looked cute, kind of reminds me of R2-D2 since mine is light/dark gray with orange trim. And I like any shop vac that can also have a power nozzle, which I got for mine. I'd like to get more attachments since I only have the wands and carpet nozzle for mine.

I owned a carpet cleaning business for years, Still part own it but no longer operate it.
Still one of the few out here who runs a truck mount and I love the reaction people give when we clean carpets
Its such labour intensive work, I seriously messed up my shoulders doing it but the most rewarding part of the job was putting down the wand blasting the carpet with superhot water and vacuuming backwards and the customers Holy S#!t reaction, even better when it had already been cleaned by someone with a portable unit and they just did a bad job.

I remember cleaning a apartment ( odly enough in a very high end apartment block )were the tenant had rebuilt his bike engine on the carpet, We got every mark out but it was early morning on a sunny but chilly ( for South Africa ) Their was so much steam from the heat of the water coming out the wand that I had to stop because i could no longer see , One of the other tenants thought their was a fire from the steam coming out the windows

Yeah those videos are like ASMR. Usually no talking, just slow methodical cleaning and the scrubbing of the machine on a disease-riddled carpet. At 2 or 3am it's very relaxing to watch.

I would always hire a truckmount professional to clean my carpets as I find them to do the very best job than all the other cleaners that I've seen on the market. Now I'm no expert but I see alot of business are slowing switching to what's called the "Zipper Wand" over their Rotovac's or RX20's because they find them overall faster, easier, and doesn't use electricity to operate it.

Or some like "Happy Carpet Cleaners" who I find to be the best carpet cleaning business that I've seen would go back to old school which is using the wand.

Why do I feel this would make my life ..... perfect?

It even scrubs hard surfaces like tile and granite.

Will work with truck mount or portable units, and the 360i is like 38 pounds.

When they are operating, it's so easy to control. No back breaking pushing and pulling. Simple finger tip controls.

I don't even have a need for one and yet I want it. At about $2000 for the wand, I'm sure it's worth it but..... I just wish I was a dirtier person. Maybe I should start wearing street shoes in the house and get some pets that aren't house trained. I don't know....

You might be able to find used carpet cleaning vans/trucks that come with all the kit included. They usually come up for sale because parts become NLA or they start leaking or the van's engine gets too high of a mileage for the company to risk it. Small O/O vans usually are about $5-$6k complete.

I guess I'm a loser for going for the cheap <$400 option of buying a Bissel Big Green. The back room carpet in our house where people and pets go in and out of a sliding door into the back yard looked about as bad as some of these 'before' photos in this thread. It had not been properly cleaned in over a decade. My wife and I had agreed we would get the carpet replaced with tile in the spring because we imagined it unsaveable. But we were having guests over and we had recently inherited a dog that was not properly potty trained so for the balance of our house I bought the Big Green. I wish I would have done before/after shots of that really bad carpet, and maybe even a better idea would have been to video-tape. When I was done cleaning that carpet even my wife said it looked brand new and really looks just as good now several months later. I was truly amazed at the result. It was very satisfying and inspired me to clean all the carpets in our house without reservation. I did a carpet a day. It is quite a bit of work and the room gets so steamy humid with the cleaner pumping out heat, combined with all that liquid. I would hate to think the cost of renting the machine for the week it took me to complete the house, or conversely, the extreme effort that would have been required to knock it all out in a day or two. Highly recommended.

The Big Green is $30 for 24 hours. $1.25 an hour. You shouldn't have to rent it more than once to do an entire house if you move all the furniture out to a storage container or your garage beforehand.

I've heard those have really great reviews. It looks great ! Even has a folding handle.

Is there two separate water tanks? Are they both removable?

What about the brush action: does it go back and forth like a rug doctor's, or does it spin like most of Bissels carpet cleaners?
And is it easily removable?

This is what I'd probably get, if only I had more messiness.

I rented the Rug Doctor two weeks ago and as usual, it did a great job. One thing I've learned is to pretreat and not put much detergent in the machine itself and to go over it a second time with just water to rinse.

Just a suggestion for you, about that carpet just inside the back door: if it were me, I think I would get some used, or even cheap, new twin size bed sheets and use them as rugs/floor sheets. Something that can be changed daily. Then all the mess is on that which can be shaken out and laundered. It will save you a lot of hassle and you can have instant clean just by change the floor sheet.

Unlike rugs that may or may not be able to put in the washer, sheets can easily be washed in warm or hot water and dried in a normal drier. Can even bleach treat if need be, something you can't do with a rug. Also, rubber backed rugs shouldn't be put in a heated drier so floor sheets are more versatile.

Yes, bottom one is clean water, top one is dirty water return tank.

Yes, easily removeable, the feature that sold me most on this vs. a Rug Doctor... easy to fill, easy to empty.

It spins and has nubbies on it. It also cleans going both forwards and backwards... the Rug Doctor only cleans when being pulled in reverse. I believe the brush stops rotating when the handle is put all the way up.

I've not tried to remove the brush so don't know.
