I ==LOVE== summer and hot weather. It can't get too hot for me, as long as it's a dry heat like we have out here. What's awful is the humid heat in the Southeast where you get wet just walking around.

I have terrible allergies.
god bless the inventor of "Loratadine". One pill a day, and I'm good to go. WE are very lucky where I live, as we truly get all four seasons. I just don't want to wish the summer away. I love to walk around Lake Scranton. I'll post some photos of the pretty sights around here soon.

I love summer and hot weather too! It was about 29C up here in Yorkshire today, for a change. Having a BBQ next weekend as it's been forecasted as 31C!

I used to really hate summer ...
... when I was 65 pounds heavier.
I was miserable when it went over 80 degrees.
These days, I barely even notice the heat until it hits 100.
However, I have a new reason not to like summer: AIR CONDITIONING. Everyone keeps it cranked up so damn high. Now it's a pain in the ass to have to carry a sweater around everywhere.

While I do enjoy tending to my geraniums and my tomatoes, I don't care for any other part of summer, its too hot, humid and it wrecks havoc on my sinuses leaving me miserable most of the time.
My preference is definetly late fall and winter, I enjoy the change from the cool crisp air and the autumn colors into the cold snowy winter. I enjoy the cold air and I find it cozy to be in sweaters and a long top coat, I also enjoy the coziness of the indoors then with a fire burning and the enjoyment of preparing all the lovely baked goods and cold weather dishes that aren't enjoyed the rest of the year. The smell of fresh yeast breads, banana bread, fruit pies, and freshly fried paczki, or the smell of fresh spaghetti sauce or beef stew simmering.
I am also a strange bird that truly enjoys winter driving, I look forward to hopping in the Buick and going for a joy ride when there are 6" of snow on our rural roads and just go visit people.

I Guess I Am Still Relishing
The change of seasons. Having lived in Southern California for 21 years, I still have fond memories of it's almost perfect climate. No humidity, no mosquitos and almost endless sunshine. Of course, what goes along with that are earthquakes, fires and drought and really only two seasons rain and no rain. No place is perfect. I guess because I was raised with the change of seasons here in the Midwest I always missed it and after 13 years of being back I still enjoy it. If you get too tired of one season, the next is around the corner. I love the rebirth of spring, the good things about summer, the beauty of fall and the approach of cooler weather and even the winter, although I really get tired of it around February. I will say I still can't get over the beauty of the first real snowfall of the season. I should have titled this thread - the change of seasons - not who doesn't like summer. I guess I got mostly folks who don't like it. People in Chicago love summer! It reminds them that they were able to live through winter![this post was last edited: 7/8/2013-21:33]

Personally when I lived in central London many moons ago, Benadryl was my saviour.

I didn't think of that as I've never been one for procuring drugs from the internet (you hear about those dodgy websites on the news) but after Googling it I have found a website that does it called "Chemist Direct".
I will buy a pack from them ASAP and try them out. Anything has to be better than the stuff I'm taking just now.
I think Benadryl would be good for minor to moderate hayfever sufferers but I get it VERY bad so need something stronger.

Well if you have a Boots advantage card, nows the time to use it!
If you could see me you'd know I have never stepped inside Boots let alone have an advantage card.
The only thing they sell that I'd ever use is a bar of soap which I can get elsewhere.
Besides, whenever I go into any shops like Boots I always end up wandering unwittingly into the "ladies" section which does generate some stares...

Lorataidine is the only thing that works for me.
The "brand name" is Claratin". I was given "Flonase" once and it sent me into anaphylactic shock! I'm scared to death to take pills of any sort now. But, this Loratadine (tiny little white pill) once daily relieves EVERY allergy symptom I've ever had.
I'll post some nice summer photos soon. The church festivals are in full swing now. I hear parades weekly from my open windows. I'd love 70 degree weather all year, with the exception of maybe 3 weeks of nice snow around Christmas. I'm not hard to please, right?

I might be inspired to go to the local nursery. When I came home from Versailles, I told my mother "I've decided to "sculpt" the backyard". Her reply was Really?? think again". It's not nearly as much fun now, with no one to pester.

The DOG days of summer where it's hot & humid everyday. I prefer days when it's like 72 degrees out and sunny with little humidity. This year, we have had so much freaking rain it's crazy.....and it hasn't been nearly as HOT as it was last year. Everything is so green!
Those photos of the yard above are awesome! I love a nice landscaped home. Too bad I don't have that kind of talent with landscaping! My yard is nice and clean with a little landscaping but it's B O R I N G looking to me.
