While my electric vacuum cleaners are in storage (for a few more months) my non-electric machines are at my moms house in Chesterton, Indiana. Last night she called me with concerns about all the tornados in the midwest. She suggested shipping the Whirlwind to me, as she said "for safekeeping." So after almost 7 years of not having my prize vacuum cleaner, it will be here in a few days. In September I'll add the other non electric machines to the things being shipped here.

As for restoration? nothing needs to be done other than a light dusting with pledge. And yes, there will be new pictures of the Whirlwind when I get it here!

Hi John.

Since you and I live near each other, it will be very easy for me to let you see the Whirlwind in person. Unfortunately I'm out of the funds needed to make the convention, but a post convention get-together could be easily arranged later this summer.

Thanks John.

I understand next years convention is to be held at Kirby. Cleveland will be easy to get to, and I can budget for that now. The need of getting my V.C.C.C. paperwork and so on left me strapped, but now that I have 30 years of club archives it was well worth it. The next phase is to load a U-Haul with all my vacuums, furniture from San Diego, and bring it here. So be the end of September, my money problems will be over and all my stuff will be home!

Hi Alex..

It seems like just yesterday that we were having a convention in Allentown PA, the first one I attended, I cant do this one either, we are still moving and have to get that done first, hope to get to see you someday soon. Hans

I've hit a snag.

This morning my mom took the Whirlwind to the Staples store, (the same one where I shipped my V.C.C.C. paperwork.) They won't ship it as it's too risky. Due to it's age, and historic value they refuse to take the chance. Looks like I'll have to take another road trip and bring it home myself. If the Whirlwind were to 'get lost in the mail' or got dammaged, I'd be heartsick. Actually, I applaude Staples for their attitude, they chose historic value over making money. I told my mom to wrap it in bubblewrap, place it in the storage unit with the electric machines, furniture and household items. This will keep it safe till I can get there to bring it and all the vacuum cleaners electric and non electric home.

Alex,

Sure hope everything works out with the Whirlwind and your other stored belongings.

I respect Staples decision to put a product's care before their profits, too.

Thaks Paul.

The manager of that staples store in La Porte, Indiana called me personally this morning to tell me that she just couldn't trust anybody getting the Whirlwind here in good condition, and even though there would be a tracking number, it was too big a risk. As she said, "I'd hate to see that historic vacuum cleaner being lost in a cargo mix-up." Staples has just gone to the head of the class with me, I deeply respect her decision.

Check your email, I plan to send you an article on me with the whirlwind.
