Today's thrift store dilemma, which if any Hoover to take home.
First up a power drive Dial for $10 including attachments. The price tag
said the power drive was not working and I noticed it looks to have been disassembled.

I absolutely love Dials but I have to admit this color is a bit of a snooze.[this post was last edited: 6/18/2014-19:31]

Next up...

.
Four more contenders.
The green Convertible was $15 and in great condition.
the Concept was $20 and very good cosmetically, but had a worn brush roll and was missing the top handle.
the Decade was $15, cosmetically only decent but the bottom was very good and brush roll showed no wear.
and lastly a Windtunnel for $30 in good shape over all.[this post was last edited: 6/18/2014-20:50]

The Green Convertible!

Finding any older machines that aren't Kirbys or 90's Hoover Elites is difficult around here.

The Green Convertible is a machine I've actually been looking for, though I don't really want to ship one to me. (Im really sick of shipping and dealing with packages.)

To narrow thigs a bit...

.
I already have a Concept just like the one at the thrift store. Also the Windtunnel was not US made like the others and was more than I wanted to spend.

So that left 3 contenders, a Dial, my favorite Hoover model, the green Convertible, and the Decade. I have Convertibles but not that variation with the big head light. And this is only my second chance at a Decade, the first was a couple of years ago, gray with a missing clamp on the dust cup, which I passed on.

My mom had a dial a matic identical to this on and she had one with a blue front to. She said they were my grandparents and that they had them when she was growing up. My grandma also had a concept one just like that when I was a kid. I personally would pic the green convertible though.

Geez, I don't know which I would have purchased.. quite possibly all of them!

I hope you didn't order that particular bag - that particular bag in the picture is for a Conquest, and won't attach to either of those Convertibles. Unless there was also a Conquest not pictured. :-)

Well...

.
I snagged the Decade. But after the comments here I may go back and add the green Convertible.

I'm a sucker for a heavy duty vac like a Conquest and this Decade is so solid I couldn't leave it; and did I mention the "Power Surge" feature? Awesome.

The green Convertible would be a great basic vac. It feels much like a Eureka Boss 1934(?), a surprisingly light standard vacuum. The condition was near perfect so I may go back on half-off day and score it if I'm lucky.

I did buy that new Conquest bag for a very good price hoping to use it on the Decade because my allergies don't play well with dirt cups. I'm happy to save it for another application like on a Conquest as suggested.
