Hey guys.... my family asked me if I could bring my steam vac up and do a bedroom for them.... they have a terrible vacuum (blue Bissell Bagless), so I need to bring a deep cleaner to use before shampooing. I think the Kirby Sentria is more powerful because of the stiffer brushroll, but I almost want to bring the Heritage for a couple reasons.... firstly, I don't want to get my pretty Sentria all nasty, but secondly, I can fluff the carpet up and get the really deep dirt with the Heritage with the boars hair bristle brush.... but my question is which one actually cleans better would you say... Heritage 2 or Sentria?

The last time I brought the G5, and within 3 passes it was so full of sand and dog hair that it started tipping over to one side as Kirbys do when the are too full... 3 passes I kid you not... and I didn't bring any extra bags I I had to keep "manually" emptying it, not fun!

I would say the Heritage II, IF you use the "granny head." I've never owned one, but I'm sure it really concentrates the suction....

Well, from what it sounds like, i would take your H2. Along with about 30 spare bags. :P If you dont want to ruin your sentria thats what i would pick.

My vote is for the Sentria, especially if you are using the new oblique brush roll. I think it does a much better job of setting up positive agitation and grooming carpet.

new Oblique brush roll

I second Bill's thoughts on the new style brush roll. When I put one on my G6 the improvement was serious. I wish they would make the the standard design for for all Kirby replacement brush rolls. I'd love to see what it would do on a 500/Sanitronic Series machine. Anyone out there know where to get a 'custom' brush roll?

Heritage II or Sentria

If you're not sure which vacuum cleans better or if both have positive features, why not take them both if you can. That's what I would do. I feel for you, I hate cannumdrums like that too.

I can't fit 2 Kirbys and a Hoover Steam Vac in my 2 door Accord.... OK OK, I guess I could if I got some of the junk out of the trunk, but I'm too lazy to take that many machines. I think I will just go with the Heritage since I want to keep the Sentria nice and never use the Heritage.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I do appreciate your input!

Bobby, How did your Heritage do? Im hoping that you didnt fill up multiple bags or have to empty them out like last time. Your last trip their didnt sound like it was enjoyable at all but I bet their carpeting can really give any Kirby one hell of a workout.

Steven, thanks for checking back.... that was really nice :o) I haven't been yet.... they live an hour away from me and I don't see them often... I'm still getting my feet wet so to speak with them after the whole 7 years of silence due to the gay versus religion thing.... I was just there 2 Saturdays ago and it went pretty well, but I didn't have any machines with me.... will probably go back in a week or so to do the carpet. I'll try to take before and after pictures... I have not seen the room that they want me to do, so I have no clue what to expect... all I know is that they have 4 dogs in that house (3 different members of the family have 3 houses right in a cluster on the same property) and they all have Bissell Bagless, so I'm kind of dreading it! Well, one of them (not the one that wants me to clean for them) have the purple (they bought it because the aunt's favorite color is purple) Kenmore Direct Drive that I sold them back when I worked at Sears in 2002 (when their Fantom Cyclone XT and Hoover Runabout bit the dust) and a blue Self-Propelled Windtunnel... the only out of the the bunch that aren't cheapskates... but they have like 9 pugs and just got a sausage dog on top of it, so there's no hope for their place anyway... their carpet is the original brown whatever from the 80s and is so matted down I don't even think a pile lifter would help... there is no texture to it at all! They want me to find them a "good" steam cleaner on Craig's List.... Fun, fun! I am going to try because then they can all borrow it and share it and I won't have to bring mine up and get it filthy anymore! Last time, I pulled black dog hair out of my steam vac for hours and used a whole bottle of Lysol trying to sanitize it afterwords!
