Where can I find Vacuum adapter from Hoover to Electrolux ?

I want to use my Hoover Power Nozzles with my traditional Electrolux canister and hose.  


 


Is there such thing as a double female end wand where one end has the Hoover notch and lock, and the other has an Electrolux friction release?

While there are universal wands as posted above which will help in the right scenario go from a standard Hoover to more of a Eureka pig tail style with pin lock or or some central vacs with the pin lock, you do need to be careful.

Is your Electrolux a normal round metal wand with pin like projection?? Many Luxes have more or less an exclusive Electrolux/ Aerus wand setup with plastic to plastic that is their own unique system. Filter Queen is the same with everything from 2003 and newer having an exclusive tool lock system only to Filter Queen.

Even most of the Eureka designed Electrolux units found at Lowe's Hardware and many other stores over the years have more of a square shaped wand to hose connection which is exclusive to them.

Most Hoover power nozzle plugs over the years have either been a flat 2 prong or a T- shaped plug which may be a 2 or 3 prong wire. The flat 2 wire would fit older style Eureka non gas pump style hose grips like what would be found on their Rotomatic, Rally and Powerline power teams as examples. However the flat 2 prong Hoover plug would not fit Kenmore Hose handles, or many central hose handles properly. You could rewire the Hoover power nozzle too though with a wire to fit to fit your needs.

Best of luck with your transformation. But do a lot of research and perhaps check with your local Central vacuum dealer/ or other vacuum stores and do trials on various machines to see what exact connection you need and what is available.

There is this connector available for Hoovers which will allow a Hoover canister to utilize friction fit tools from say a Kenmore canister vacuum, but it will not allow a Hoover canister to run a PowerMate Jr. with out a pigtail wire.

When they told me about the wand above, my first thoughts were 'how to keep it together since there is no button lock on the top Electrolux wand?'


 


I ordered a button release that will need to be slid into the end of the top Electrolux wand.  HOPEFULLY it will work with the existing hole.  If not, I will have to drill a hole.  I'll know in a few days if it all works so easily .


 


As for terminology- I say traditional Electrolux wands, I refer to the wand sets that were used on Electrolux (and Kenmore, Eureka, and many others) before the advent of the plastic wands with built-in electric connections that started in the 90s sometime.  My interested in Electrolux machines pretty much ends with the Ultralux Classic.


I also am referring to traditional Hoover as the connection type shown on the picture above.  Apparently, recently Hoover has retired that style (shoulder shrug).  I don't know.  I basically go to a current vacuum cleaner website and after a few minutes get bored and wonder where the Futura's and Spirits are.

I am quite used to the Hoover raised button lock system where the hose end had a turning lock to secure it on the raised button. I grew up with and love that system.

That system was used on every Hoover canister up until all of the bagless units came out and the Anniversary Windtunnel canister edition. Back in the 80's most uprights used this system too! Hoover Decade and Convertible attachments can be found with that style hose attachment lock.

It worked well!

Delaneymeegan - First of all, let me apologize for not responding sooner. One of the parts websites I use as a reference was down for a few days as they were making changes to their website. Otherwise, I would have responded earlier.

Ok. I understand what you are saying, but having a hard time picturing this. Part of the problem I could see with this setup is the sheath covering the upper wand might get in the way. Could we see a picture of this button release you ordered & how it works with the existing upper wand & sheath?

There is another way to make this Hoover powerhead to Electrolux hose conversion work, & much simpler - go aftermarket. One wonderful aspect of this whole modern Made In China world we live in now is when companies start outsourcing to one manufacturer who makes vacuums for 10 different brands, you start to see parts & designs in common, particularly with aftermarket & central vac parts, & BOL & MOL vacuum designs. This makes customization & finding compatible parts that will work with our vacuums where the brand has discontinued parts availability much easier.

If you look at the hose below, this is what I suggest you use. You will need to custom make your hose, since there is no aftermarket Electrolux metal canister hose available with this metal handle presently. I have attached a list of parts needed below to make the hose, as well as wands.

This is probably going to be your simplest, & best, solution to what you want to do. Best part is, if you also order the metal Electrolux handle, you have a great spare hose to use with your Electrolux wand & powerhead if needed in the future.

You can use this Centec wand with cord management for Plastiflex hoses to hold your powerhead wire, & plug your pigtail cord directly into the cord without having to fiddle with the powerhead cord each time you want to use attachments or change wands, just leave the powerhead wire inside the plastic holder & unplug your pigtail wire & remove the metal handle.

Here is the same wand on Tip Top Parts website they are selling under the Beam brand, yet for some reason when you click on the description they are showing it as 60 wands in 1 case. Unless you can find a vac shop that buys from Tip Top Parts or deals with Beam central vacuums & already has this wand in stock, better to get from the first website since you obviously don't want 60 wands

The plan is to mate to a spare typical traditional  fit Electrolux UPPER wand (plastic band and release button).


 


However, a locking system is needed to keep them together, so the button device needs to go into the Electrolux wand HOPEFULLY the existing hole will line up with the hole in the new wand....


 


.... and it does.


 


Now, to use  needlenose pliers to install the spring button.   A screw driver helps to align.


 


Wheww.  Exhausted.  This was difficult.  


 


And the final fit... is snug, which is what one would want.

I want to reinstall the upper Electrolux wand sheath and plug madam Quad into that.  Will need an appropriate cord management device.  Me thinks something velcro .?

That's a first that I've seen a setup like that!! Very cool that you made that work.

That's a neat system to have.

That Quadraflex Powermatic nozzle was originally partnered with a gorgeous 2 speed Hoover Celebrity canister QS series. Do you still have that machine? I'd be interested in a photo of it. Your Quadraflex looks to be in gorgeous shape so I assume your suction unit would be too!
