Found this in my (long dead, so I can't ask him) grandpas barn.
From my limited research, it says it is in the range of the years 1890-1920 ish. Would love to narrow it down.
I did not find any manufacturing numbers on it, but also did not look closely. Have found a couple that look similar online, but honestly not a ton.
It still seems to function? Once again, didn't mess with it too much, but when I pumped the handle it was definitely moving air.

It went back in the barn for the forseeable future. It's been in there many decades after all, what's a little longer?

Very cool! As for age my educated guess would be around 1910, But I could be wrong. Did it have any attachments? Or just the hose?

You must be close, we ended up finding a sticker on the bottom that said "Rare c.1911 cyclone handpowered vac". I am going to ASSUME whoever put the label on may have had more info than we do now.

It's just the hose. Maybe there were other pieces-if so they are unfortunately in the landfill now (big trash barn clean out).

Amazing piece of history! This was made just during the time that people started phasing out horse cart vacuum cleaner services and started wanting to clean their own houses. Mainly in commercial residences. The big problem is usually the bellows fabric rots or gets moth holes and loses its suction. Also remember that two people would be needed to run this. One guy (or gal) would be pumping the handle while the other maid would be running around with the hose and brush. The hose was pretty long, enough to do an entire parlor room. It's pretty incredible what people did and used to clean their homes back then.

well that is immensely ignorant and stupid. nothing in a barn is ever trash. it was saved for a reason and everything has value.
