When All You Own Are Vintage-Looking Vacuums

Can you imagine someone who only owns vacuums that are brand-new, but carry a very old and reliable design? I know Kirby is among one of them. It's comparable to someone who only owns older cars because the saying goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Lots of high quality machines are still basically the same.

Metrovac and Aerus immediately come to mind. Filter Queen too. Dirty fan Sanitaires and similar models from Koblenz and Powr Flite.

Royals would also fit into that category until they stopped making the metal uprights several years ago.

Very true... most of my machines are Kirby and Royal, and mostly 1989 and older.

My 95x sounds like a 31 and has an 88 style 96. The bottom of the motor inside is dark brown.

Only thing that immediately comes to mind is Kirby and Sanitaire. There's also Aerus and Ranbow. The Bissel consumer-commercial line of Big Green vacuums uses a lot of archaic molds too that are rebadged designs.
