So much time, so many Luxes...

Such a long time since my initial post in this thread four and a half years ago. At the time I just had two machines to choose from in the Electrolux line. Now, in addition to the 1205 and the Super J, I've acquired a Diamond J, rescued another 1205, resurrected a Silverado, and that's not to mention the uprights—a Discovery Plus, Discovery II and Genesis LXe. While I will always love the canisters, especially the 1205s, I've really come to appreciate the Discovery II, especially since I retrofitted it with a Sidekick adapter. It's as convenient as it is versatile. My housekeeper loves it too and she can't believe it's almost 35 years old.

Great thread. Great pictures.
I honestly couldn't pick one favorite. I love them all!
But, I've only owned plastic bodied models.
My grandmother had a metal one, I believe with runners, but I never got to know that one.
The first one I had any experience with was when my mom bought her first one; probably in the 1980s. I don't remember the model, but it was in the plastic era. She's owned one ever since.
My first was an Epic 6500 SR. I now have three different versions of that model, plus one Aerus Legacy version. I also have one Ambassador III.
I love their looks, they perform great, I like the on-board tools.
I split the daily driver duties between them.

1205 because of family memories (my parents bought new) & I've came across a few more 1205s

Epic 6000 the best of both worlds because it combines the lightweight plastic canister & metal wands. Also the LONG crevice tool stores onboard unlike the Ambassador, LE & 2100 which stores the combo tool & SHORT crevice tool

Ambassador, Diplomat & 2100--Same reasons as the Epic 6000

Epic 6500SR Same as the Epic 6000; but I didn't like the quick-connect plastic wands because the wands & hose handle are too bulky, so I changed the hose, wands & tools to the old style pistol grip hose handle & metal wands

Bronze/Tan Model G because of its retro look

XXX was a disaster because the cord 'fried up' due to age & low suction even with a genuine coiled vinyl Electrolux hose

Most of the Electroluxes I've owned are complete except the Ambassador I once owned & the 2100 (came only with a genuine Lux coiled vinyl electrified hose, short crevice tool & SideKick 1; & I'm waiting to see if I'll win the PN, combo dusting/upholstery tool, floor brush & wands from eBay)

My recently acquired 2100 starts & stops intermittent but the SideKick works great. Its a recent garage sale find (pre-COVID-19 crisis) it came with a full bag & Sidekick had hair wrapped around the brushroll

The other 2100 I had had a leaky woven vinyl hose with cracked pistol grip, PN & PN wands & sheath & combo dusting brush/upholstery tool but I managed to find two aluminum wands, a genuine Electrolux combo rug/floor tool, genuine Electrolux coiled vinyl hose & crevice tool to complete the set

Diplomat had only a woven cloth hose like the 1st 2100 I had but no other tools or wands

I still have two 1205s & a 2100; & waiting to receive the Olympia & a Ultralux 80th Anniversary (Olympia & Ultralux main units only)

I sold the rest of my Lux collection over the last few yrs; but slowly 'rebuilding' my Electrolux collection again

My favorite!

My favorite Electrolux would have to be my all original Model 89. Not only is it in all green, which is my favorite color, but it was a gift from one of our members here, Mr. Doug Smith, at my first mini meet. The picture of myself with it is from the mini meet, but the 89 still looks incredible and will forever be a treasured piece in my collection. Enjoy!
