Whats your favorite Electrolux model!

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I cant decide, I even love my modern Velocity. They all have thier plusses but I think the ones that stand out the most are the 1400 series machines.

Remember them coming out and the hoo haa they caused. The Airstream I think, not because its TOL with bells and whistles but more because it looks smart, seems to use a quieter more gentle motor that just hums and the fact those blue airflow bags just seemed from a different world at the time.

It’s a toss-up between my G and UltraLux LX

The hose on my G is an early model 1205 hose. It looks nice with my G and still holds full suction. The UltraLux was found at an Estate Sale in Kansas City. The UltraLux came with two hoses, two power nozzles and an Electrolux 1205 rug washer. I still consider this Electrolux to be one of my best Estate Sale finds. When I purchased the vacuum the cashier didn’t mark the ticket and one of the workers had to call cashier to confirm that I purchased the Electrolux vac. The estate sale guy thought I was trying to pull a fast one!

Commemorative Edition

That Commemorative Edition Electrolux is so attractive! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see one in person at the convention.

The Model G or the Olympia One

My favorite has always been the Olympia One in all of its original form and beauty. I just think the chocolate brown with the cream colored trim and all the matching attachments, and then the olympic sticker that was placed on the back part of the chrome is AWESOME! Truly patriotic! And shows American pride. Even the box that it came in was nice looking. Also, the turquois Model G with the PN1 in its original form when it was brand new is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME looking!

My favourite Electrolux(es) are the models: "E", "RC", "AF", Harvest gold "G", and the earliest "L" having the old style switch. I also like the "S" and the "R"

@smith
Is that a NIB Silverado-era B8 shampooer/polisher?

@pr-21
That's a VERY NICE Commemmorative Edition Lux; are U using the new vinyl hose or the original cloth-woven hose? I haven't seen those in person as of yet, but I would LOVE to own one.

Too bad those CE Luxes aren't on eBay or any auctions/garage sales (at least not in my area)

floor-a-matic.....

Thank You, I like it too. I use a genuine vinyl electrolux hose with it and not the woven one.

There is one on Ebay now, with a Buy It Now for $475.00...

Sincerely,

PR-21

Now I'm using the Ambassador as daily driver; its nice, powerful & lightweight. Next would be the Epic 6500SR, 1205, G, L & Golden Jubilee. At least the plastic canisters have storage for both the combo duster/upholstery tool & crevice tool; on some metal canisters the crevice tool doesn't stay under the handle or attached onto the dusting brush, which is held by its clip in front of handle (E, AE, F, G, L, R, S & T) or behind the handle (1205 thru 1521 Ultralux)

Favorite Electrolux.....

Charles, I too dearly live the styling of the XXX, they are amazing little machines; I also like the model G, it is so quiet and powerful; but out of all I have in my collection, my favorite still goes to my Model 1521 UltraLux CE.....

That F

Is the only one I know of with the original power nozzle, I have seen it in person...its NEW!!!

I also have a Model F with power nozzle. See link.

The Model F is a very beautiful vacuum cleaner. Its understated gray and white color scheme made it stand out from all the garish machines on the market at the time.

I recall many households with Model Fs when I was a boy. I can think of about a dozen right off the top of my head. And there was a church where my daddy was the pastor that had one. My mom borrowed it one day when her E-A was on the fritz [we lived across the street from the church] and I was very excited to see it in our house! Of course, she forbade me to "so much as lay a finger on it!"

Guess for me--F,G These were simple, robust, quiet machines that did their job and well!Didn't know too many folks that had Electrolux. My Stepmom always wanted one-but got Sears instead. She hated my Dads Kirby. Its sort of weird-you don't see alot of 'luxes here.I do have a couple LX models and a tripleX-the woman who had the TripleX was about to dumpster it-glad I came along. Its in pretty good shape and has the on board tool holder, and the tools.Like its METAL dust brush and floor tools. The XL machines the bag ejector mechanisms are corroded beyond hope. The machines still work and pick up-got them at the swap shop where I get washers.

always

had a soft spot for this one maybe because i grew up with it.I got this one recently from ebay the one i grew up with belonged to my grandma she only ever had two vacuums in all of her married life aZ55 and this one whenever i look at it i see her vacuuming a yellow carpet with lots of roses on it she only ever used the upholstery tool none of the others it got so much use that the corners of the upholstery tool were worn away another thing about this machine is its so quiet theres hardly any motor noise just the sound of the air rushing through it

You never forget your first Lux...

My 1205 is my first Electrolux and it's the vacuum I've had the longest of any I presently own. Now that I've upgraded the hose and replaced the brush roll on the PN-1, it's a real performer. I definitely count myself as part of the 'teal is cool' camp; in fact, when I think Electrolux, I automatically think teal. Aesthetically speaking, I like the 1205's smooth metal sides, although looking at my Super J, I understand the wisdom of the textured metal as it hides a world of sins.

Speaking of my Super J, there's a lot to like about it as well, especially, I the sleeker design of the handle and control panel and of course the more powerful motor. I still find the gold color scheme a bit much, although it really is growing on me. I've learned to think of it as 'cheerful' instead of 'gaudy'. The vacuuming experience with the Super J is also much improved since I acquired a PN-2 to go with it. The funny thing is I have yet to try the PN-2 with my 1205. Maybe I'll do that the next time I vacuum.

Guess I might as well weigh in on this too. I have several favorites. My Favorite Canadian Electrolux is the late Model 88. My favorite US model would be a toss up between the Blue Model G and the Silverado and my favorite English model is the Model 90 with the Trident running a close second.

I would have to say My Olympia One and 1205 are my favorites, mostly for sentimental reasons. My Olympia was bought at a flea market in Bloomington, IL. I went there with my best friend, and stayed the weekend with his brother, and it was the first Lux I had ever bought. My babysitter had a 1205 and she would let me vacuum with it, even if she had already vacuumed she would let me use it. I also love the color of the 1205.

Epic 6000SR, 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee, 75th Anniversary Ambassador & 1205

Goldis & Ambassador are the ones I use the most; but the Epic 6000SR makes a huge racket
