what's your daily driver

Help Support VacuumLand:

I use a Fantom Fury. The ORIGINAL Fury. It's lightweight and it gets the job done. I like the hose in the handle. Although I'm thinking of moving on to some sort of bagged system. I've got an all blue Kirby 516 on deck from a nice fellow member. It's getting new bearings. I'm going to 'Tradition' it and convert it to bags.

The bagless system on the Fantom is better than some I've used, including the Hoover Mach 5. Bloody horrible!

Daily workhorses.

Hi guys.

Mine are a Numatic Henry straight suction cleaner, and my indestructable Hoover U7008 commercial for thorough carpet cleaning.

My all time fave machine is the 912/U7008. I remember my first sight of this model was at my Junior school, 4th grade to you guys state side. The caretaker would let me use this after school whilst he was perhaps seeping the bare floor close by.

Happy hoovering guys and gals.

Clark.

Upstairs is my newish orange Kenmore canister,If im in hurry I grab the Hoover Shabby till it crokes.
Downstairs I usualy grab my vintage Kenmore canister but its wearing so I have been going for my Convertible or Eureka upright, and the duros for my couch and the shop.
I don't like to use my older vacs to much as I often vacuum 2x a day if I can.But for the most part I use the older vacs downstairs where they are kept.

I was thinking the same thing as Brian, we all seem to use a Kirby as a daily driver. I don't vacuum every day but I always use my Vacuflo system, alternating between my non electric hose and TurboCat, and my direct connect hose and Eureka Express p/n. When I use the Turbo hose i usually use my Kirby for the carpets as the TurboCat just doesnt give it that deep cleep. I don't think I could live without my Kirby, its a design thats stood the test of time, and a machine thats built to last a lifetime!

"I'm going to 'Tradition' it and convert it to bags."

Yes, it's definitely alot more convenient, just be sure to save the Sani-Emtor. You don't know how many I've seen on eBay with bojack bags and the Sani-Emtor long gone. Really a shame when I see an early 500 series like that.

In my honest opinion, I think Rainbow is a piece of sh** and is the biggest rip off known to man, period. Who agrees with me?

My daily driver is:

My trusty white and blue Eureka Dial-a-Nap upright from 1982. Over 25 years old and still does what it's supposed to do - clean carpets well. Nothing fancy - no headlight, no Vibragroomer, no cord reel, no on-board tools. Just a good basic Eureka vac.

It cost about $100 including attachments at the time it was bought!

just be sure to save the Sani-Emtor

I plan on keeping it. The only thing I'm changing is the shake-out bag to the Tradition zipper bag and I'm going to use a Tradition Emtor and fill tube assembly. I don't like seeing those Kirbys with the after-market F&G set ups. I also don't like seeing the Heritage Emtor on any Kirby earlier than the Classic III. At least this way, it will look mostly the same.

Kirby paper bag conversions

Good for you, Tim. I don't like those awful bojack F & G conversions kits either, although some Kirbys came to me that way. Last time I was at the Kirby dealership in Elmont, New York, they had a Classic III in the window with a Legend II bag setup (retaining the bag topper from the Classic III) that didn't look half bad. Someone on this forum awhile back had a BEAUTIFUL Sanitronic or Dual Sanitronic 50 which he took the bag off of, brought to a tailor, and had a full-length zipper installed. I thought that was an excellent idea.

Right now we use our Electrolux Epic 3500 for carpets, bare floors, and for tools. And for those hard to reach places, like under the bed, we just pop on the power nozzle from our Silverado Delux. It does a really good job!

I agree with you Kirbyman89, altho i have to admit i do have an original NIB Rainbow D2,with the original Eureka made PN, but dont use it often. I keep it because of the novelity. Sure is a pain the A** to use, would sure hate to have to clean a large home with it every week!
A friend gave it to me out of his Grandmother's estate after she passed,,she had not used the machine hardly at all,(was too much vacuum for her) and none of the attachments or PN had ever been used and were still wrapped in plastic from the factory. The chrome dome is still like a shiny new mirror. Just couldnt stand to see it all go to the dump.

I switched my vacs, I am now using my Hoover 28 in place of the Convertible during the holiday season. The Shake-Out bag is much easier for dealing with the removal of all of those pine needles from our 11 ft. blue spruce

I can't believe someone here put a metal fan in a Sentria, that's really cool!

Of course you probably all know my new Hoover S/P Windtunnel is my new daily driver. Probably won't use another vac for a while because I want to see how long it takes to fill the bag in the WindTunnel. I'm actually LOOKING for stuff to vacuum now :o)

It's interesting to see people who use canisters as a daily driver... I tried it once for an experiment (Miele Plus), and it got old so fast! Even if I had a lot of bare floors, I think I'd use a full power stick vac with a swivel head!

My Daily Driver is a Kirby of course!

Mine is a Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition!! However I have so many vacuums, it is always hard to decide which one to use. My canister is most always an Electrolux of some sort. Any way I probably should vacuum a lot more then I do.....

I have a Rainbow E2 in my collection-but it gathers more dust on its OUTSIDE then inside-noisey and a pain to use-but it does work.but the Kirbys,Meiles,And my other canisters are better. The Rain bow when full of water is heavy as you may know-heavier than the other canister machines-and if it tips--A MESS!I also don't like the Rainbow powernozzles-rahter ineffective-their design chokes off the airflow from the canister machine-I put a TriStar Turbo Brush on the E2--and that water was a lot more "dirty" than with the Rainbows stock powernozzle.

KIrby G5, MIele s711, Nilfisk home king

HI there for daily drivers I use the Miele everyday because of the cat and dog. Upstairs the cleaninglady uses the Nilfisk once a week, and the kiby once a month.

this month and possibly next month I am making my Hoover 28 my daily driver. now that I have new brush strips in it I am able to deep clean my carpet

I've switched...

I knew the Spirit wouldn't last very long, lol. I still use the Power Drive downstairs, and the Sentria every once and a while, but now it is the G5. I like it SO much better than the Sentria, it is better looking, and it just feels like it is working better than the Sentria. And the transmission sounds a bit better than the Sentria's also.

At my aunts house I mainly use the S4 Neptune downstairs (laminate flooring) and the S7 Tango upstairs (carpeting).

I've been using my perfect canister lately. It does such a great job, is fairly quiet and grooms nicely. Also, you can not beat the suction on this machine.

Rainbow

I don't use Rainbow as my daily driver. I use Kenmore Progressive with cloth bags. The only time I use the Rainbow anymore is with the 14 foot non electric hose. I can get on a ladder and get high places so EASY (top of kitchen cabinets, ceiling fans, anything u can think of up high.) I also use it as a blower to blow the dust from the coils at the bottom of the fridge. But NO WAY am I using it everyday.

I don't think the Rainbow is a piece of CRAP, nor is Kirby. But I definitely know the Rainbow is WAYYY overpriced! I'd probably use it more if I had a better power head, but since my Kenmore seems to work just as well as the Rainbow with the cloth bags, I don't wanna splurge for another power head right now. I have to Kenmore progressive power heads but they won't fit Rainbow.

Time to Rotate

I rotate my daily drivers, this week I switched out my Hoover Innovation for my Hoover Citation...one of my personal favorites. It has new brush strips and has had the Marty Kaplan "spa treatment" and cleans/grooms my carpeting beautifully! My Filter Queen Princess III goes into the shop today, making a funny noise, maybe bearings? I don't work on them so have to rely on a friend who owns probably the best vac shop in St. Louis to look at it. I'll use my Diamond Jubilee for my floors/above floor chores while the FQ is in the shop. I use the Perfect hepa bags in my Luxes, and they seem to increase the airflow/suction.

Kirby all the way

Hi All I use my kirby G4 upstairs G6 main floor G5 basement Heritage two is my canister unit for all floors i have one on each floor. Also my Kirby Dual 80 when ever i love the old 500 series.Doug

Oreck and Kenmore

HEYY! I use my Oreck XL 2400RS on the carpets and my Kenmore Whispertone on the tile floors at my house!!!

- Josh :o)

I've been using the Oreck XL2 that I just got a few days ago at my mom's house. They have really big bags, which is a plus when you have five dogs; it's really light, so it goes from upstairs to downstairs to the basement really easily; it can clean the hard floors and the carpets and rugs pretty well; and what I really love is how well it grooms the carpet. I put a new brush in it when I bought it and it grooms so well.
At my dad's house I use my Eureka Surfacemax canister vacuum. The bags aren't super large, but they do hold quite a bit. I've also noticed that the bag full indicator works quite well, it activates just as the dirt reaches the bag collar. The exhaust filter does need to be replaced more often than I am used to, but they aren't very expensive.
