Some like the Renault Dauphine but I think the Dauphine is pretentious.

Any car company that has the balls to put a rear engine in a full size saloon is far from pretentious ;p

(hell Tatra did this with limousines, air cooled V8 mounted in the rear..sort of like a VW beetle from hell)
