What Would You Have Bought?

I would have bought a fully loaded D2-A with all the accessories: 4 qt pan, extra long hose - etc- No, wait a minute- I'd still get ALL of the accessories but I'd make an additional aftermarket customization: I would rig up a brown 15' electric FQ hose to work with it. First I'd remove the FQ ends, then I'd use metal tubing and epoxy to make a clean, hidden joint where the machine end would connect than I'd insert a swivel, metal curved wand into the tool end. That way I wouldn't have to deal with the external wiring and I'd get a longer hose for my D2-A.
I was born in 1980, My hypothetical D2-A would have been one of the last with the rainbow colored insert in the power nozzle applique.
Oh Hell, I'd get two or three. My absolute favorite Rainbow!

compactguy;

If memory serves me correctly, the original Compacts were very light weight.
What are they made of? hammered aluminum, steel, or a magnesium and steel or aluminum alloy?
I know Interstate Engineering did aircraft work during World war II.
