what Tacony vacuum would you recommend me

Hello,
I am looking for a tacony vacuum for my 2 story home. My home is around 2600 square feet and would prefer a canister. My house is a mix of all low, medium, and high pile carpets and Hard wood floors but I have the simplicity jack to do the hardwood floor. (It's amazing vacuum would recommend). So what would you recommend me. Also I am planning to go to the vacuum museum and probably by the recommend vacuum from Tom Gasko.

We have all the different carpet types here at the Vacuum Museum, from Frieze (shag), to plush, to berber. Also, wool area rugs sitting on hard wood floors. You can try out any of our vacuums to your hearts content, and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

The machine I would recommend is the Riccar Prima (Simplicity Wonder) with the full size power nozzle. Everyone who ever bought a Prima likes it, and the power nozzle can be adjusted for all carpets. It has a steel brush roller with replaceable brushes, the bags are inexpensive, and the cleaner itself is very quiet to use and light weight to pull.

I will second that, the Prima is a great vacuum, I love mine, I think the Wonder is exactly the same, just different color. I didn't buy the power nozzle since I have mostly hard floors in my apartment, I have used it with the Riccar universal power nozzle and the Sebo et2 power nozzle for cleaning my area rugs and it works great. It's a compact canister, very quiet and powerful.

The names always throw me off. To me a Simplicity is a mower and a Riccar is a sewing machine.

The Tacony vacuums look awesome. Miele's are more predominant where I live.

Riccars and Simplicitys are great vacuums. I tried the Wonder about a month ago when I met Tom and it was great. Very powerful, very quiet! I will also recommend a style similar to the Simplicity Verve. I own the Verve and love it!! Wonderful canisters!!

I haven't tried the Simplicity mower line. They look ok but Scag, Bob-Cat, Ferris, and Exmark look much better!!! The old style "lawn and garden" tractor is slowly fading, unless you want one to attach a snow blower to for the winter.

Zero Turns you're better with one of the manufacturers above. Husqvarna, Toro, Walker are more brands with great Zero Turns. Simplicity does not offer a 21" style walk behind but if you were in the market for that I'd look to: Toro, LawnBoy, Snapper, Ariens, Gravely, Husqvarna as primarys. Craftsman is hit or miss because you really don't know who is making the model for Sears under the Craftsman name!

Go ahead and test drive yourself a Bob-Cat or a Scag mower!! And definitely don't forget about the Riccar Prima or Simplicity Wonder!!!

Not vacuums-I did try a Scag 48" walk behind years ago-LOVED IT-But HATED the price!!!Had to carefully put it back!Tractors are still with us and going to be for folks that want more than just a mower.Remember with a tractor you can pull a bush hog,finish mower,disc harrow plow,seeders and flail mower, so forth.Mowers as we know them can't be used with ground engaging attachments-they will pull rollers,carts,sweepers and such.If I had a large area to mow-would opt for a light or compact tractor-you can pull a bush hog for the rough spots,and use the 8 Ft or even wider finish mower for the regular mowing.Feel you get more for the money.And if you need it-you can get a backhoe or loader for your tractor!

Just remember with a mower that the wider the deck the higher probability to scalp certain spots. A mower just like a vacuum needs to be chosen based on territory. A Kirby isn't the best choice for a house of all laminate flooring. A large tractor with an 8' mowing deck would be a very poor choice for a hilly area.

A Bush Hog is more suited for rough terrain in fields that you want kept reasonably trimmed but it's not be the nicest result. A Finish mower on a tractor will leave a better cut. A Scag will leave a far better cut than either of those! With Scag there is price, but the cut is gorgeous!! Their Advantage and Velocity cutting duck styles offer a lot of vacuum action and adjustable bevels to pull the blades straight up for a smooth even cut and end finish. The powerful discharge allows for a more even distribution of clippings so the end finish is just gorgeous. Then of course they have an extremely high durability ratings. Thick gauge steel and metal instead of plastic in the places you want them etc. There is no cheap commercial duty machine which is what the Scag is.

A Scag is completely different ball park of quality over a Toro TimeCutter residential series, Husqvarna, Craftsman Professional, etc! The cut is far better than John Deeres!

Again it's all based on your terrain, budget and if it's just your property or you have a business, how fast you're looking to be done and how nice of a finish you are seeking!

A Zero Turn walk behind or Zero Turn rider can go row by row with no time wasted taking your mower out to China and making a huge circle further marking up your lawn to eventually refind your next row!! That's a savings of fuel, blade sharpness, time, and a better overall finish! Also Zero turn walk behinds and riders have the option for bagging, getting a mulch kit or discharging.

For entertainment just check out how tall this lawn is and how good it looks after just 1 pass with this Scag zero turn. Granted you know you'll definitely have to double cut or even quadruple cut this property with any lawn this height with certain mowers. But look how good it gets it with just 1 pass!!!

Have you seen a Caroni Finish mower?-Agri Supply is a Caroni dealer.They demoed a finish mower for a customer.It went thru the knee high and taller grass BETTER than the ZTR Scag.No having to repeat cut an area.Can agree you have to choose a mower to the situation.Also don't overlook a finish flail mower-again would be better than the Scag.I have tried Scag and Yazoo(When those were still made) and both were GREAT mowers.There are other choices,though.Sad to say on many of these their PRICES are meant for the commercial-industrial markets-not for home use.Be cheaper for me to hire someone that has the Scag than to buy and use it myself.I like mowers,too but the prices are getting to the point---may be cheaper to hire the job out.In the meantme for my modest lawn will use my rechargeable mowers.

Thanks for the lead on the Caroni finish mower. Looks nice, I just have no application for it. A finish mower to attach onto a larger Kubota tractor or like and it's more for a field or large estate. For a normal neighbor though Scag, Bob-Cat, Ferris, Toro, Wright are more the market.

The Caroni mower is for someone who has a tractor with a 3 point hitch to connect it with.For usual lawn use-the ZTR would be easier.On the Caroni mower and Alamo flail mowers-the tractor has the higher horsepower required to run those.I have even seen non finish rough cut flail mowers do a near finish job if the tractor is driven slowly and the mower adjusted properly.The hood has to be set so the cut grass is recirculated thru the flails-IE like a mulch mower.Normally the cut grass is discharged out the back of the flail deck.If I ever had that big area-would like the tractor becuase it would be more versatile.A Scag,Ferris,BobCat or other ZTR just mows.Yes,they could pull carts,sweeepers or rollers-but thats about it.All of these large mowing machines are sort of interesting even if I can't own them.

Compact body usually with a swivel on some models. Out front mower which you can choose the type of mower deck you want, or attach sidewalk broom, snow blower, core aerator, blower, plow, scoop shovel, etc.!!

Maybe an older Gravely??

The currently Gravely line competes with Scag, Bob-Cat, Exmark, Toro and the like. They have several zero turns, some walk behinds and some great 21" style walk behinds. Also 2 recreational vehicles. Some of their mowers have a detachable front for a power broom or plow but not many options currently aside from that.

Overall Gravely and Ariens machines look very cool! I wouldn't mind having an Ariens or Gravely 21" style mower!

Good that Gravely is till with us-have seen one lawn service here with Gravely ZTR mowers.I had an Ariens style mower that was marked John Deere--HATED the thing!!It was HARD to manuever-literally had to manhandle the thing.The terrible B&S motor on it hit a stump and had to be taken to a motor -mower shop for repair.Liked the old shear pins in the blade holder that went on the motor shaft-Encounters with a stump-just replace the shear pin and you are good to go again!

Your post is the first I've heard of an Ariens being styled like a John Deere mowere! Most of the Ariens lines use Kohler or Kawasaki engines for their 21" mowers. Handle designs and body all look different to me from say a JS-36 John Deere self Propelled mower like what Home Depot used to carry. John Deere did exit the 21" walk behind mower arena a few years ago. John Deere distributors tend to carry Honda branded mowers as a push mower option in their stores and Stihl for hand held product lines.

Personally I'm not a fan of Honda mowers or Stihl hand helds!! Used a Honda self propel last season working with a landscaper. Just quite awkward, not user friendly, slow self propel and the cut didn't keep up with the self propel. Cut quality just didn't look very good.

Stihl stuff is VERY HEAVILY advertised!! That's how they have high sales volume. Not only do they advertise on TV and newspaper, but if a dealer sells Stihl exclusively as the only handheld power line in that store, that store earns a "Gold" rating with Stihl for better advertising, better website connection with Stihl and higher discount so profit margin is higher. Some of their stuff is ok but a lot of it is known for high repair cost, heavy vibration and a warranty that is limp compared to many other power equipment manufacturers.

There are so many other handheld power equipment lines to choose from: Shindaiwa, Echo, Maruyama, Dolmar, Husqvarna, RedMax, Jonsered, Efco, Tanaka.

When I worked at a power tool sales and repair place-really liked the Stihl chain saws.don't know about their other hand machines.Echo,Husqvarna,Jonsered,chain saws very occasionally showed up at the tool place-Really high quality peices of machinery!Have a Husqvarna sewing machine-very finely crafted instrument!They also made a line of sporting rifles-these were well liked among shooters and hunters at the time those rifles were out.I bought the JD mower from Lowes.Now I use cordless electrics like them bETTER than gas-less noise,maintenance,no smell.The JD mower found another home.Hope the user likes it.I was just so vpissed about the internal shear pin i got rid of the thing.I didn't like the newer B&S motors.The Tecemseh was BETTER!!!Older Tecemseh motors sucked!Hard to start-not reliable.My JD lawn tractor sits in the corner of the garage-flat rear tire and gummed motor carberator.Just haven't had the time to horse with it.When the JD tractor WORKS it does very well.Just problems with the tires and motor(B&S 22 HP twin cyl)I am anxiously waitng for the cordless,Greenworks rechargeable rider mower!Would LOVE one!
