What is the WROST vacuum?

My Worst Vacuum Was...

A Eureka Maxima canister vacuum. I bought it at WalMart for $60 (first mistake) to replace another plasti-vac that I could not find replacement bags for (which was a Bissell Power Partner).

Within 6 months, the floor nozzle had cracked, and I had to duct tape it back together. The vacuum drew 11 amps of power, but had lousy suction, not to mention it had an obnoxious sound to it. The collection bags were tiny. It didn't come with a dusting brush.

"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low cost is forgotten."

When I got my first vintage Lux, guess what went straight into the trash bin? Yup...the Maxima. Good riddance!

Most if not all stick vacs.

And Royal's hand-held and dirt devils.

Though, I must say the new Classic they have out does a pretty good job.

A Eureka Bravo. Very embarrassing to have even admit to dropping money for it. I got it for my friends as warming present and they used it for two months till the fan broke and it spit things out. I took it the repair man and saw six of the same in line for repairs and traded it +$35 for a nice used Hoover convertible.

A 20 year old Oreck XL, I swear it couldn't pick up a spec of dust. Dirt Devil Reaction Fresh, always clogging and major PITA to use.

before an argument starts...

lets not comment if we like dysons :)

worst ive ever used...a cheapo shark we got cuz our windtunnel ultra broke a day before a party, so it was an emergency purchase

same as this but red, and not for pets, and came with the low end electric sweeper

For a radio station where I used to work-the worst vac was a Premier "Mastercraft"upright that was ALWAYS having problems-the unusual stamped steel fan was ALWAYS breaking-and its horrible plastic fan housing.I made the mistake of ordering this machine from a janitorial supplier who said that thing was the best out there-(before Sanitaires)Then the Mastercraft died-motor went up in smoke.Replaced it with a Royal commercial upright-and what a diffrence!!!the Royal WORKED-drew less power-NEVER any fan issues or housing issues-bet the station still has the Royal-Gleefully watched as the horrible Mastercraft was crushed to plastic bits in the back of the neighborhoods trash companies EZ Pack trash truck.Others would be the Eurika Oxygen and its variants-see them as frequent visitors to the vacuum repair places here-then sorry to paint with a broad brush-most new Hoover vacs.Oh yes another Mastercraft someone gave me-the thing was dead-ended up as a target for my AR15.Was fun blasting it to bits!Only thing I saved-was the inner cloth reusable bags-they could fit F&G vacuums.

Worst vacuum

I have ever used?

My Grandad's Dirt Devil centrixx TS. Clogs at after cleaning one small room, turbo brush doesn't work at all and the suction and filtration are appauling.

My flat came with an Electrolux vitesse petlover which is pretty awful too, again clogs, poor suction, poor brush roll and the SCREAM it makes is almost too much to bear!

Here's the Dirt Devil.

Hey there Josef!!!

I'm actually surprised that your Eureka Bravo gave you problems. I bought the bottom of the line Bravo (no onboard tools) with a dark blue bag when they were highly rated by Consumer Reports. I loved that machine! The only complaint was the high noise level. But other than that, it's one of my favourite vacs because it deep cleaned carpets very well and was extremely lightweight and manoevrable. (It was kind of like Eureka's version of the Oreck and the new Hoover Platinum bagged). The gigantic bag was great too. Mind you, being the vac-o-phile that I am, I did not abuse the thing in any way. Still, I am surprised it was your worst vac..... *sniffle*... :-)

Matt -

That Vitesse is the same as the US Eureka (I forget what the model name is). It's usually at our local Walmarts. It LOOKS so cheap....

Hate to say it but, the worst vacuum i ever used was a Hoover Power Drive Dial a Matic. My parents bought it brand new from KMart in 1973,,it was the cream and tan colored one.
The power drive was jerky, and the little button on the handle to hold off the power drive only worked once in awhile.
The suction was terrible, even with a new bag,,and it did not groom the carpet well. It spewed dust like crazy from the exhaust. There was no "edge cleaning",,the suction was so poor it would barely pick up a thread. I kept telling my parents this vacuum was NO GOOD, but they didnt listen.
The little hose from the front to the back was always getting clogged, the bags would burst inside the machine, and when insered in the back, the hose suction was terrible, even on the "High" setting,,even with a new bag.
My mother was using the hose setting to vacuum the couch one day and the machine caught fire and burned a black hole in the carpet. The whole works went out to the curb the next day. Guess we got a lemon?

The worst vacuum ive used

Well first I will say i have not tried nearly as many vacs as ya'll have but the worst one i've used has been a electrolux silverado. to under powered for a tank vac, and a miele white pearle. the vacuum was quiet and cleaned well. just after while it started spewing dust straight up into the air, even with fresh filters and cloth bags.

Electrolux Silverado.........

I have to agree, CJ. My grandmother had purchased a new Silverado.....mid 80's I think. And the matching floor polisher to boot! Grandpa's insurance money was burning holes in her pockets. =0/

I know there are lot of Electrolux fans here. Maybe that's the problem I had. I've had a not so good experience with one machine. Maybe the Silverado wasn't their best and I've set my whole outlook on just one.

I must admit I was comparring my mothers Hoover Dimension 1000 she owned at the time to the Silverado. The Dimension (r.i.p. a year and half ago) sucked the wallpaper right off the walls!

EuroPro Shark. I had one about 4 or 5 years ago used it for two or three days, and took it back to Best Buy for a refund! It would overheat after a couple of minutes and shut off. The filter inside the dirt canister wouldn't stay in place.

David.....

You are too funny, Mr. Flumoxxed.

CJ and I will be by in the moring to take your Silverado for a test drive. Maybe we did have lemons. =0)

Dyson..

Lots of power, but dosent have a brush roll worth 2 cents,a worn out Eureka from the 60s will clean rings around it, for a canister, any of the new plastic stuff, if it ain't metal, it ain't a vacuum to me!
