Just as the title says,

What Hoover vacuums are rare? Iv'e heard Turbopower 1000's are supposed to be hard to find. Iv'e also heard that Turbomasters are supposed to be rare.

But im just curious as to what other machines are rare/hard to find.

The model "O", of course

Along with the "gold" 65 Convertible, the 707"A".... the robin's egg blue version of the billious green 707.  It was made for only a week... and made FOR Spiegle, the "denim"Convertible,  the Bicentennial (obviously made for a short time(),  just for a few models that would  be considered "rare".

  Here's that 707A

Turbopower 1000's aren't that rare at all.

Turbomasters are more so, but it depends on the model. The softbag one's are quite rare, the exclusives are like gold dust.

You have to bear in mind that Hoover were a HUGE seller for many years, so the main lineup models aren't that rare at all, with the exception of the U2336 Turbopower. Despite being a big seller, it was made of incredibly brittle plastics that were prone to splitting and shattering, so not many survived. The store and catalogue exclusives are the rarest models. For example, there was a pale blue Turbopower in the early 90's that was an exclusive to Argos and an all black model exclusive to Littlewoods. I don't think any of the UK collectors have examples of those.

I'd say the most rare overall are the Concept 1's and the later Convertible uprights (Dial A Matic in the US) . They're very hard to find over here now. Some of the top end Sensotronic's, Freedom's and Compacts are also quite hard to come by too, especially the ones with the powerheads - they were very expensive so didn't sell in such huge numbers as the cheaper models.

The freedom's are rarer than the standard models, yes. They were more expensive to buy but were bloody awful so a lot of people got rid of them.

As I mentioned, the rarest Turbopower's are the exclusives. Not so much the Electricity Board models, but there were models that were exclusive to various catalogues and department stores that are incredibly rare.

The Freedom isnt as rare as some would like to think - many are in collections, as is the Red Laquer/Deep Red Laquer (now isnt that a slutty name) glass TP - there was a time when not one collector had one now theres about 10 in circulation including a NIB one in mine.

Rarest one it seems at the minute is the 'Options' one which nobody has apart from me with the brand new bag door from one.

Other rare ones are the blue argos exclusive circa 1990 and an auberginey coloured version which was another exclusive.

Im not sure if I ever dreamt this or if they were real but I seem to recall 2 soft bag TP's from around 89/90 which were white in colour, creamy coloured bags and the height adjuster knob and writing being in either bright yellow and a version with turquiose writing/height knob. I also seem to recall they may have had a logo like the Palm Tree on the sensotronic exclusive. Infact these 2 soft bags may have been part of the White Palm sensotronic exclusive range.

You're not alone in thinking certain cleaners existed, Rob. I'm still adamant that one of my neighbours had a TP Junior that was identical to the U1294, but it had a headlight. I've never seen one since and nobody has a clue about it.

I don't think anyone has the blue Argos exclusive or the black littlewoods exclusive either? There was a white Argos exclusive too that I don't think I've seen in person

I had the Sensotronic with the palm tree. It was white and mink and said Tropic on the tool storage cover under the palm tree. It does feature in one of my vintage videos that I have yet to upload. I think it was a Currys exclusive model.

No, the U2716 was part of the main line up. There was a model above that one that had cord rewind.

Here are the exclusives mentioned earlier - the 2 Argos models, plus the black Littlewoods model. I've only ever seen one of these in person.
