@bikerray

I was just curious about how long it takes you to re-bristle a roller? One advantage that I can see of doing this is the wider selection of bristle hair you have! I have a couple '30's Eureka that I think use this type of roller.I just might give it a try. Before looking on line I thought the bristles were individually socket-ed and glued, glad that's not the case. You do good work! Any tips?

About an hour for a Hoover 102, 103, 105 or 541 brushroll, that's once I've gotten the old bristles out and cleaned the brushroll.

A little longer for some of the Hoover brush inserts like the Hoover 700 and later.

Thank you Ray for doing the brushes on my Hoover 541. I actually love the very old Hoover’s, I just pretend to hate them because, well, you know why. There was an old wash woman who was always going on and on about her Hoover. She wouldn’t shut up about her model 67. She passed away a number of years ago but no one told her yet. I think she drink the diet Lysol.

You are a wonderful person for helping me out. And now all of my very old Hoover’s have new bristles and run like new. I can’t thank you again enough. You are a good friend and a great man.

I've been

doing some reading, I've heard about these children's books Reach Around Books OMG the title "Barbara's Beaver Needs A Barber" it is the funniest book I've read!!! There's a series of these in the first set and a second set is supposed to be out soon. I listened to it before I read it and seen the pictures, all I can say is coffee was spewed all over the wall, floor etc! I couldn't stop laughing & coughing!!

Stay at home...

A bit more expensive than we anticipated.

We bought a brand new Rainbow, in photo it’s in air purify mode. Also found this lovely Ward’s Signature 700! The Rainbow obviously being the expense - the Ward’s 700 was only $7.

I was never too big into Rainbow, but I have a cat with asthma, and having this new Rainbow running (it’s so silent) has really helped her a lot - she hasn’t had a single attack! Plus, the air in the home just feels and smells so clean.

Chris

That cat looks fluffy.
I got a royal 4150 power team. Its the 9 plus amp straight suction. It has no power nozzle port.
I felt the same way about rainbow. We have a golden lab and 2 cats. I have 2 silver rainbows and had a platinum. The srx looks really good. You don't realize what the vacuum does until you use it. I'd recommend a strainer bowl to dump water basin into and then throw it away. The rainbow when vacuuming you smell fresh air. I have the rainbow eucalyptus oil for it. Im not a rainbow power nozzle fan and I got a wessell werk ebk 360. I know it's $160 on Amazon. Its the best power nozzle I've used and it's ratings are good.
My cat is taking a nap on me. He is a pure bred sismese.
The Montgomery ward is a nice looking private label eureka roto matic. You already know this.

That's a beautiful bag you made for your 102 Hoover. You are very talented. I'm glad to know you are enjoying your vintage Hoovers by using them and not letting them sit.

We are going into phase 1 Friday. Sister goes back to work at the restaurant Saturday and Sunday till things pick up. I'm doing chimney cleanings now after 30 some years doing the tuck pointing and brick repairs on all the roofs.
We both get unemployment plus the bonus so we're doing fine. I just talked to work and between the time of year and cv 19 we don't have any cleaning jobs so been mostly enjoying not busting my back climbing ladders and carrying mud around. Been mostly sitting around getting out of shape and sleeping in but I did get the parts and repair my pro level Shindaiwa weed wacker, put some 8 foot shelves in my shed on the vertical track hangers that have been installed since it was built. I put a decent used 3 mirror door medicine cabinet with lots of shelves and wood trim over the sink in my bathroom. Cleaned the gutters and scraping moss off the roof and regluing some of the shingles that had started to lift from the moss. I got a new 65" 4khdr TV and eventually mounted a very heavy duty full motion mount to hold it.
I had a nice mount before but it wasn't made to work with the 24" studs it turns out my house has. Plus it was rated for 80 pounds and TV weighs 70. Now it's screwed into two studs properly and moves smoothly and locks in place so much more stable than before. I put new pads and slotted drilled rotors on the front of sisters 99 300m. The front pads were gone and rotors warped, now it stops smoothly and fast.
Need to finish putting up more shelves in the shed, maybe replace the belts and idler wheel on the lawnmower, Dart needs a carb rebuild and van needs to be started and some work.
Hard to get motivated but lots of other things I could do around here...

Love your ingenuity used on your old classic vac you've got there! I plan on doing the same for my Airway Sanitation System and Hoover 61 inner bag (Hepa conversion is my plan)

Working From Home

My office changed to working from home. However, as I work in IT I've had to still go to the office many times to keep computers up and running and also configure new equipment. Sometimes Windows, no matter how well controlled just tries to give us new headaches. LOL

I also continue to do landscaping and some cleanings on the side. Cleanings slowed down dramatically. I went about three months without cleaning for anyone. No one wants the germs. Also, it's high risk as several of the people I was cleaning for live in apartments in a 55+ complex.

I have managed to get a few nice new toys over the time. The only vacuum that I've gotten during the past few months is the Miele below in photos. It is my first Miele canister. It's a refurb from a vacuum store and has the older SEB206 power nozzle which I specially requested. It's very cool as its brush roll is quite similar in style to a Hoover Quadraflex or Panasonic Jet-Flo canister style. Check out the carpet lines it makes!

I have a brand new RedMax handheld leaf blower. My 11 year old Kawasaki is on the fritz. RedMax is a great commercial brand.

I'm also happy to announce that my Honda mower just had its 1 Year Birthday. It has been a great mower for me so far.

Redmax

Is a good brand, I've had my EBZ8500 backpack blower for years, gets the job done fast also the BCZ3060TS line trimmer, starts every time with one pull!! Wish they'd make mowers but I'll suffice with the Toro Turfmaster.

Thanks very much Mark. Due to drought, the blower hasn't had much use yet but the time will come.

My string trimmer is a Maruyama BC2621CA with 5 year commercial warranty. It's a great unit. I tried the Maruyama blower but liked the RedMax better.

I retrieved a photo of the Kawasaki blower along the hedge trimmer. I have two Kawasaki tools. It's a shame they left the handheld equipment market.

I also thought about a backpack blower but a handheld has done quite well for me over the years so I'm sticking with it.

My Kawasaki blower was a KRH300A with 425 CFM, 125 MPH The new RedMax HBZ260R is 459 CFM at the tube end and 170 MPH. It has great power for a handheld along with being very quiet and having zero vibration. The handle assembly is actually attached via a suspension system to the engine and blower housing. I've never seen another handheld like it, other than its counterpart the Husqvarna 525BX since Husqvarna acquired RedMax a few years ago.

I know the 8500 series RedMax blowers are beasts too! Congrats.

Here are some photo of my trimmer, some when new, others after cleaning. LOL .. 25.4 CC just like my former Echo SRM261S was.
