What does everyone think of Electrolux epics?

Hi, im new to this site and just thought i would inform everyone of what vacuums im interested in. My favorite vacuums of all time would have to be Electrolux and Aerus. My current collection is only 2 vacuums, but when i get my own house hopefully i will get more but the 2 is plenty for a 2 bedroom apartment. Right now I have an Electrolux Epic 2500 SR (upright) and an Electrolux Epic 6500 SR (canister) I just got the upright in April from a refurbished vacuum store on ebay for $200 in total including shipping and 15 bags. its in brand new condition and as far as i can see was thoroughly cleaned and not a scuff mark on it!!! and seems to work wonderful. But im not sure of the age....probably early 90's. The canister is my grandmothers from 1999 or 2001 (one of those years, i forget) that was insanely expensive for $1200 new! that i just got a few weeks ago and isnt in that good of condition anymore. I figure it was so expensive because it was a 75th anniversary edition, and had grey trim instead of the blue which was the most common color at that time i think. The problems that the canister has is one of the wheels is locked up on the power nozzle/powerhead which doesn't really affect anything but still, harder to push, and the main unit seems to get very warm, sometimes almost hot when vacuuming for a long period of time but then again maybe its fine? please let me know what u think on the heat of the motor. Some day I will post pictures of them and maybe some videos. Other than that the only other vacuums i have had were junky wal-mart vacuums that all lasted less than 5 years. Most less than 1 year!!!!

Hi fellow newbie. Electrolux is my favorite too. My sister's friend had an Epic 6500 SR and I got to use it one time. It was the easiest vac I ever used, bar none. It pushed so easily any which way. It had suction enough at the power nozzle to lift my sisters carpet where it was a little loose at the kitchen. I was impressed at how quiet it was compared to the roaring Hoovers and the Eurekas we had at the time. It shouldn't get THAT hot, I would have it examined by Aerus. Electrolux/Aerus power nozzles were very high quality, they have about the best headlight design of ANY vac I've ever seen. You can't go wrong with an Aerus/Electrolux.

I have an Epic 6500 SR. I like it a lot - very easy to use. My only gripe is no room for on board storage of the floor tool. Mine gets pretty warm when vacuuming, but I wouldn't say hot.

Electroluxfan, do you own any Canadian Electroluxes? I always felt the front end looked sorta like the CBS TV symbol. Kinda eye-like. Or maybe something out of an alien Sci-Fi film.
