Wow

I love the Pencrest Connie. This is only the second one I have ever seen. I saw one a few years ago on ebay. It was sold as a Hoover, no mention of pencrest. I always thought it was a change-over model between the 84 and 86. If I remember right it sold for about $125. I would have bid on it if I had known how rare they are.

Here is my Penncrest cord reel model. It is later than the one that Jeff Parker has in that mine has a square winder rather than the round one. I am guessing around 1970 on this one. This machine was being thrown out at a thrift store as the handle would not stay up. I was in the right place at the right time too. They did not want to sell it to me either until I handed them a $20 bill!

Here is a model 2000 from 1973...it still has the rear conversion for the tools and the older metal base without the cut outs underneath. This one is called JCPenney so I am not sure when the did away with the Penncrest name.

Here are two Western Auto branded Hoover Convertibles. I am guessing the late 1970's on these as they both have plastic bases. Check out the bag on the blue one!

Here is a closer look at the bag...this blue model here was a gift from my friend Tony Mical in Chicago. I never knew that these existed until he gave me one for my collection. I found the orange one a few months later at a vac shop. This style hood is not my favorite but I like the colors on both machines.

WOW!

Hey Tom

what can I say- 2 more amazing Hoovers :)

Was the handle bail the problem on the cord reel model?- you were DEFIANTLY in the right place at the right time with that one!!

I have that same green Penncrest that you have. I bought it at the last convention from Glenn Dienst. I have also have a set of Penncrest attachments!

Now here is the horrible part. I was in a thrift store several years ago and i see this off white Hoover hose hanging on a hook. It is attached to a blue tank cleaner. It was a Penncrest tank ala the Holiday! Light blue with the Penncrest "P" on the side of the tank where the round Hoover logo would have gone. I didn't but it. I left it there! I still kick myself for that one! Ugh!

Marty...YIKES...you passed up the Penncrest "Economy" cleaner. Those have to be rare. Oh well hind sight is always 20/20. If we could all go back and grab the ones that got away. I had forgotten about the poor "Economy" model. Thanks for reminding me. I hope to add one to my collection one day.

Here are my Penncrest "Attachment Tools". I have only the boxes and one tool bag for a Dial A Matic for Penneys. In one of these boxes found by eagle eyed Jeff Parker, was a headlight lens for my blue Penneys cord reel! Thanks again Jeff for your help on that one!

Here is a late 70's JCPenney cleaner with the box top bag. This must have been their deluxe model. This one still has the metal chasis and front conversion for the tools. So Hoover must have made them not only for Western Auto but for Penneys too.
