What are our favorite vacuums?

After the Ohio Tuec, my all-time favorite machine is the Kirby as well. If I had to choose my dream machine would be the elusive "R" series with the switch in the handle. Charlie Lester's is the only example of this I have ever seen. I love the Hoover Dial-A-Matics as well, and at one point, tried to collect every color combination produced.

Favorites

Some of my favorites from my collection include my Lux G, AE, and XXX; Electro-Hygiene 903, 80, and 966; Hoover 28, 29, and 82 Constellation, Filter Queen 350, Regina 39; and my Lewyt 40 and 90.
Some of my favorites that I DON'T have, include Kenmore Torpedo Tank (preferrably model 116.730); Hoover models 825, 150, 26, 63, and Aerodyne; Electro-Hygiene 285 and 950; Galaxie Prestige 990; Silver King; Apex; and a few Westinghouse tanks and uprights.
Actually, there are so many ones that I do like that it would be easier for me to make a list of the ones I don't like!!

I would have to vote for Kirbys as wellI would like to run into a 511-what I used while growing up and was bought the year I was born from a DTD salesman on their "van campaigns"-knocking doors to get a sale-they still do it today.

Kirby

My fav vacs are the Kirbys.
Mainly the earlier Sanitronic styled (DS50 is my fav) and then the Classic series and the Tradition.
I also like the Royal all metal uprights that closely resemble the older styled Kirbys.
I also have a soft spot for the traditional styled Eureka uprights and the Hoover convertibles.

my fave

I think my power drive concept 1 is my favorite vacuum. It was the first member of my collection. The design is beautiful, and performs wonderfully. I like my DS 80 and my Heritage Legend 2 because of how big the bags inflate... the DS80 is better because the bag is on a chain so it bounces! I don't really use them much anymore because I favor the G5, but the older ones sure had more style and less plastic! I love it! Royal 801 and Convertibles are also great, but fave is still Concept! I adore my green and chrome QS Celebrity... even better than Rainbows and Filter Queens... that would be favorite canister.

Delf Blue Favorite...

The Hoover Convertible model 719 is my favorite Hoover Cleaner. I grew up with this model. I now have 6 decent ones including one with the box, tools, and receipt. Believe it or not there were a lot of running changes to this model like the foot pedals changing from smooth to ribbed, the indoor/outdoor changing to low, and the handle grip going from the smooth handle grip to the regular Hoover grip. The 719 replaced the nearly identical (except for color) sunset orange model 714. It began production in 12.23.68 and ended its run on 8.6.71. It had a good long production and many were produced. This model was second from the top in the line up. The 1070 was considered the top of the line model. The 719 was the first model to have the new 4 position height adjuster. The colors were delft blue (from the model 70) and seal greige light (Hoover seal greiged us to death in the late 60's!) Hope you like the pic.

Favorite vacs

Gotta go with the Kirby 500 series, for two reasons -- a 519 was the start of my collection, and more importantly, because my grandmother had one just like it when I was a kid.

As for canisters, I'm fond of my trusty Electrolux 1205. But that could change when I get around to rebuilding the G.

kirby all the way

My favorite is the kirbys exspecailly the model 519. It out cleans a dyson anyday and i proved it.try this sprinkle baking powder over carpet then vacuum with the dyson several times then go over with the kirby but over the blower connection place a black cloth and vacuum over the carpet. You will be amazed with the powder it will suck up.

Hard to Pick Just One....

Actor Vincent Price wrote a book on art titled "I like what I know" and I would similarly say of vacuums I like what I have. There's not much I covet that I don't already have.

I'm especially fond of Electrolux metal canisters, especially the 1205 but I also like the Discovery II style uprights and if it came down to having just one vacuum, that would likely be my choice because of its versatility, incorporating the best of a canister and an upright. I also love Kirbys, especially my Heritage 1HD and Ultimate G Diamond.

One machine that I used to have that makes the list is a Eureka Princess with power nozzle. The closest I've come to replacing it is a Eureka 'Ironsides' canister that I've bodged together with an Electrolux wand and PN4.

Air-way

I too am a big fan of the Air-way uprights. I have three now and always keep an eye out for more. Theses vacuums were way ahead of their time. When ever I show my collection, the Air-Way's are always the most asked about.

My favorite vacuum of all time is the Eureka victory. It’s nostalgic to my childhood, and I just love the way that they look and sound. It may not be the best vacuum ever made, but I like it.

I thought I was sure . . .

For years it's been the Electrolux model G, followed by the model XXX. But since I acquired a very nice Automatic E a few months ago, I have to add it to my list, and it may push the model G to second place. I also really like the 60s-vintage Hoover Convertibles, Hoover Constellations, older Filter Queens, and Compacts.
