Ok so far this week I have gotten two great vacuums. The first one is a Hoover portable cleaning center it is the bright orange one and it doesnt have the cord winder. It works great there is no flaws except the after filter that goes behind the dust bag is stuffed to the limite I coul;dnt even get it to come off it was so thick. The seconed I picked up last saturday. It is the Blue royal all metal upright with the Disposable bag. It is truely in mint condition. I even got the service folder containing the manual and the all of the order guides and promotions for the hand and stick vacs. I do have one quistion That I hope osmebody can answer whenever I put the belt back on the motor shaft the machine gets much louder and like a whining noise. I put oil in the tube at the back and in the wheels and brushroll bearings any help is welcomed.

They usually do make a LITTLE more noise when the brushroll is connected than when it isn't, but not that much. It's possible you might be having some front bearing problems that are only noticeable when the tension of the belt is pulling on the shaft. To check the bearing, remove the belt and give the shaft a spin by hand. It should turn freely. If it seems overly tight, That's one indication of bearing trouble. Also, check with your fingers to see if it wiggles up and down or side to side. If it does, that's another indication of bearing trouble. Hope this helps.

I'm thinking the belt might be slipping. Raise the nozzle up off the floor and see if that makes the squealing go away.

Hello,

Unfortunately I cannot answer your repair questions, but I know I and many others would love to see pictures of your latest finds.
