The Sew/Vac I work for will no longer be accepting Kenmore or Dyson DC07/DC14 machines. SearsPartsDirect sent us the wrong powerhead TWICE for the same machine and they are too expensive. Most of the parts we would order from them didn't show up anyway. The DC07/DC14 always need new clutches and the cleaner housings break when removing the brushroll housing because the little prongs crack off. The Dyson service centers in our area no longer support those models, so we were one of the last. It's a tough move, but we're changing with the times.

I got an entire front shroud off eBay for my DC07 for $45. Just explain to the vacuum owner it might take longer to get the parts because main suppliers stopped selling parts and the only parts available are used. Offer them maybe a newer vacuum on trade or if they want to keep their current one, explain to them it might take a little white to get parts and lease out a vacuum for them to use in the meantime and just keep them updated if you found any parts yet or something.

SearsPartsDirect is a 100% garbage site. They stole my money on a backordered part for my Z700 in 2018 that they said was in stock and available and I never seen the money again. No way to refund. It now says the part is discontinued. Sears has gone out of business anyway.

Not true, but to me they may as well be. I don't plan to give them another penny due to their horrible management at the top. If I need any parts for Kenmores I'll just get them on eBay or from an aftermarket company.

I order Kenmore parts from Steel City (wholesale) vacuum parts supplier. I also order all my Dyson filters from them. I do accept the DC07 and DC14 models in for service. I have a supply of used parts for them, and vow to keep the ones in my area running as long as I can. I have the very first DC07 production model that was brought to America. It's serial number is 1. James Dyson gave it to me. I used to bring it every year to clean the carpet with during the old VCCC's cleaning contest.

Here's a crazy idea. Design a repair for the broken tabs on the housing. Then you'll be practically the only place that'll fix them, and probably for much cheaper than anyone else. Wouldn't be that hard, a bent piece of spring steel riveted to the plastic? Just a thought.

Once the plastic on those forks gets brittle, the rest of the housing will crack. If you waste too much time on one machine, that's time you could have used to fix other machines. Besides, replacing a clutch on those machines is $50 Labor, $64.95 for the clutch, and $12.95 for those lower hose. We have about 10 DC07s and DC14s that were surrendered because they would have cost too much to fix.

Nobody over here will touch a Dyson for under $95 most are going to charge $120+180 USD in labor plus parts

The real pity is how much people spend (and will continue to spend) on Dyson vacuums. Had James Dyson used non-stretch belts in those clutches (as well he should've for all the money they cost) that would be a common issue eliminated.
