Hi! I just grabbed a Kirby Legend II. It's absolutely filthy. I need to clean the bag. I've already thrown away the disposable paper bag, and will buy some more. What's the recommended/safest way to wash the red cloth bag itself?

I have a Classic Omega dump bag and I have machine-washed that a couple of times just fine. Can I machine wash the Legend II bag or can it only be hand-washed?

Hi

Hi, Yep you are Ok to just put the Outer Kirby Legend II bag in the washer on a warm wash. Not Hot tho lol. I would make sure the outer bag is vaced out 1st.

Good deal. I am planning on putting this disposable bag system on my Classic Omega. I recently had the Classic Omega rebuilt (as seen in this thread http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?15209 )

If the Legend II works OK after I'm done working on that one I might give it to someone in need, or if it doesn't work, sell for parts. I have no need for it. I don't believe the front-loading accessories from the Classic Omega will fit on the Legend II will they? The thing is beat up anyway. The Classic Omega is nice and rebuilt.

The tools will fit but they won't operate the safety switch, so the motor wouldn't run... :)

As for the bag, yep, vac it, toss it in the washer as you would your regular washing and it'll come out, just turn it inside out before washing so it doesn't damage the outer layer... :)

Thanks,

The bag is clean. I didn't turn inside out.... but it was on gentle cycle. The bag looks fine. Thank you guys! I may have found a home for the Legend II + Omega dump bag... but I need to test everything first.

As I feared the Omega sani-emptor won't fit on the Legend II unless I put it on sideways. Awkward. Oh well. Selling it for parts then!

The Legend II bag is a few inches taller than the Omega bag. So when I use the Omega bag hook, I have some slack. If this poses a problem during normal operation I may need to shorten the Omega bag hook a little bit.

I use a LegendII bag on my Dual Sanitronic 80, and it has some slack, but I see that as a good thing, as you aren't fighting the bag to move about and works nicely coupled with a mini-emtor and Style-3 bag system... :)

The reason why your Omega Sani-Emtor doesn't fit the LegendII is because the rear wheels on the LII stick out more as it has a wider rear axle than an Omega, you can get a short axle though if you really want to use a shakeout bag... :)

But, there's no real advantage to fitting a shakeout bag on a LegendII, it works for the Heritage as that's set up for such things, but, the HeritageII to LegendII did away with the shakeout bags (though they were available as an option, and some dealers preferred to sell Kirbys with the shakeout bags for whatever reason), they're not good for allergies, and even though I don't suffer allergies, I do sneeze a lot when using a Kirby with a shakeout bag... :S
