WANTED IN UK : U912 Bag Clamp

Hi

I am looking for someone who is UK Based, and has a spare metal "bag clamp" that seals the top of the cloth bag on a Hoover U612/7008/912 Commercial Upright. It also has a spring which connects to a hook on the handle, to keep the bag in position.

I am willing to pay a fair price if anyone has one collecting dust on a shelf somewhere ? Lol.

Please can you help ?

I don't know what models are sold their. Sanitairre/eureka/Electrolux bag clamps would fit.
Royal bag clamps would fit,Kirby bag topper would fit. Basically any bag topper for a top fill vacuum cleaner will fit. I got my first Hoover last night it's 1960s model and my Kirby, royal, eureka/sanitairre/Electrolux upright fits. There is a vacuum I believe it's a koblenz basically copied sanitairre and they do sell in Europe there bag toppers would fit.
I probably have a bag and topper that would fit. I'm not sure on shipping.
If Amazon has a UK site I guarantee you can get it.
I'll try and do searching for one around you.

Wow..thanks for the very helpful information !

The only reason I need to obtain a bag clamp from someone in the UK and not the USA or anywhere, is that I dont have paypal, so my only method of payment is a personal cheque in the post, to someone who can cash it in..ie someone based in the UK.

I will have a look at Amazon as I have an account there. But it always seems to me that vintage vac parts are much much harder to find in the UK than in the US.

If you can help in anyway..Amazon (UK), or if you have any fellow collector friends in the UK that you could ask for me, that would be fantastic. As you say, it doesnt have to be a U912 bag clamp, as long as it fits.

Is the best search word to put in Amazon..."bag clamp" or what ?

Newer royals and sanitairre/koblenz shakeout bag would fit. I'm not sure what vacuums are available but maybe go to UK version of Electrolux/sanitairre/eureka.uk should have the clamps for shakeout bags.

Hi Guys

Thanks for everyones help so far. But both sellers you have suggested are based in the USA, and as I said, I can pay for items if they are based in the UK, but I dont have paypal, and just use my Debit Card to pay for things through Amazon.

Would I still be able to use my card (its not a Credit Card), to purchase something that would be sent from the USA and not the UK ?

Thanks for the advice re payment. As has been said, it seems I can obtain a bag clamp in the USA, and the cost of the clamp itself is minimal. But the cost of shipping to the UK is ridiculous, and I cant afford that. Doh.

Les had asked why I dont "just buy a bag clamp from a UK Supplier"....I wish !
Although I havent tried extensively, the UK is much different to the USA in availablility of "vintage vac" parts....anything like a bag clamp that would fit, will have been LONG discontinued over here !

Thats why I guess my only hope is to find a UK Based Collector, who might have an old bag clamp laying in the back of his store room or the likes.

No luck so far..so I just hope someone can help me. Otherwise I have wasted money buying the U912 new bag to fit to my U4014 as an experiment !

Hey

This is off but those clamps used to seal vegetable bags or even office supply clamps for files. Get a wooden dowel and the dowel holds clips. Spray paint and you have a clamp. They have hangers with clamps same concept use a wood dowel put together. It's not perfect but paint one color it would work. If any vacuum shops sell pneumatic Henry is your best bet.

Final

Here is a solution that will cost $20 and there is no way you can say it's not possible. .go buy a spring or take spring off old bag. You find a seamstress and you can't say they don't exist they do. Take her the bag.
Tell her see the top of the bag shut using same color thread as bag. Here is the kicker then have a zipper installed to access bag. Wait. Seamstress have like a river tool. They clamp it together and you have a metal ring on top of the bag. Put spring on attach to vacuum.
This can be done quite easily.
Now there is no reason to say I shouldn't have bought the bag. It fixes everything.

Understood. I would try searching 'vacuum bag clip' or slide or clamp, and maybe replace vacuum with hoover, or sanitare. Perhaps dropping the clip altogether and search for shake out bag, as it seems many of them come with the bag clip on it already, and likely paying more for the bag and clip together would probably be less than shipping and customs.

Ebay and amazon have not yielded any fruit. Try searching among vacuum parts stores in UK, and perhaps europe. Failing that, try alibaba. idk how your customs are, but it's probably easier and cheaper to buy from China than US.
