Hi all,

the headlight lens on my Senior U6525E is badly discoloured, and it has a couple of cracks in it too.

So I was wondering if anyone is willing to sell one?

I'll pay for postage and whatever you want for it.

Many thanks,

Joe

Most of the 652 lenses discoloured over time, some worse than others, so I think you will be very lucky to find one that's in perfect condition. Remember that most Seniors are over 40 years old now, and the plastics will be very brittle and faded out. Think how brittle old Dyson plastics are, and then add another 20 - 30 years onto that. My 2 seniors both have discoloured and cracked lenses too, but I think it adds to the charm and adds a "weathered" look. Here are my 3 seniors when I first got then, and the one on the left has discoloured very badly - but its a 1962 model, so now 50 years old! Sometimes it easy to forget just how old some Senior 652 models are - after all, they did launch in 1959, the year that Alex Issigonis launched the Austin Mini

I confirm, the Hoover Senior 652 lenses discoloured over time. This is the case with mines. And I ordered lense at youspares, they are good. Good way to maintain old materials in good condition.
My lenses are good for three Senior 652 but for the fourth I received, lens, hood and pulley were destroyed. I've had chance to have the possibility to order these pieces.
In two weeks, my fourth Senior 652 will be restored.
The new hood is brown.
