Wanted: Electrolux Ambassador Plus Vacuum Cleaner Info.

I have never seen an Electrolux Ambassador Plus (Model ?) vacuum cleaner--which I'm guessing was manufactured after the original Ambassador/1623 and prior to the Ambassador II/(Model ?) and Ambassador III/1676 (1992-1994).

I'm thinking the Ambassador II debuted with the Diplomat LX/1677 (1991-1992), because it had the same coronet logo on its name badge (which the Ambassador/1623 did not have) and the same color scheme (beige body and dark blue top).

I'm also wondering when the Model 90 was manufactured. I'm thinking it was a catalog or tv model, because there were no other versions of it; or did it precede the Ambassador/1623? It looks quite similar (body and name badge) to it.

Any information such as what the 'Plus' meant and/or photos you can provide will be appreciated.

Going by an eBay listing of the Ambassador Plus sell sheet the label was used only in literature and packaging—not on the machine. The difference between it and the Ambassador was that it had the new 11 amp "High Performance 2-motor system" versus the 10 amp 2-motor system of the Ambassador.

Also, comparing the Ambassador, Ambassador II, and Ambassador III sell sheets, the air watts upgrade from 292 to 308 resulted in the label being changed to Ambassador II. Factors constituting air watts were listed as nozzle design, bristle brush design, a sealed airstream and filter bag design. I couldn't find what exact changes were made but did note that the Ambassador Plus's power nozzle was listed as "Deluxe Super", and the AII's and AIII's were just called "Deluxe".

There have been at least four different designs of air flow channels on the L-shaped power nozzles and some had either a long brush strip behind the brush roll, and some had brush strip edgers; there was also a spring-loaded rear wheel axle and a stationary rear wheel axle. Beyond that, some have been equipped with headlights, a 3-way switch or circuit breaker, one came with an HPO brush roll and special circuit breaker, and 2 elbow designs have been used—for standard or electric wands.

As far as I know all Electrolux's direct sales tanks had the same motor from one period to the next (10 amp to 11 amp). Those sold outside the home (e.g. fairs, TV, catalogs) may have only been factory-equipped the 10 amp motors. I'm not sure if the uprights, canisters, or central vacs had different motors.

Regarding the model of the Ambassador II, I'm guessing that it's 1676—the same as the first iteration of the Ambassador III; because the sell sheets' specs were the same; just the color arrangement changed. The AII had the light sand gray body with navy trim, and the AIII had the same but reversed.

Incidentally, the color reversal coincided with that of the Diplomat LX 1677 to the Epic 6000SR Model 1718 when the onboard tool caddy was introduced in 1992. Other relabels &/or remodels and color changes at the time included: the Ultralux LX 1521 label being changed to the Ultralux Classic 1521, the Genesis LXe 1717's nozzle hood being changed from light sand gray to navy resulting in the label being changed to Epic 3000SR, and the Floor Pro Model 1522's motor housing being changed from light sand gray to navy and the model being changed to 1732 (maybe the motor was also changed). I don't think the CB2000 ever had a color scheme of navy & lt. sand gray—unless it was very short-lived. I've seen ones matching the Silverado Deluxe colors, Diamond Jubilee colors and the Marquise colors and gray color that kind of matched the Prolux uprights.

Anyway, when looking to buy an Aerus (Electrolux) for performance over preference it's a good idea to pay attention to all the details.

I've been collecting Electroluxes for a long time and never knew they made a model called Ambassador II. I had the original Ambassador and several Ambassador IIIs, but I've never seen this one before. The III was made in 4 different color schemes, through the bright white with light blue trim. After that, the "Lux" nomenclature started and got confusing for a while. I attached the best pics I could find of the three color schemes not already pictured above.

I liked the Ambassador III. During its production, at least after the Epic 6000 became the Epic 6500SR, it was the only Electrolux except for the Epic 3500SR upright that used the metal nozzle, standard wands, and original Sidekick.

I think the Electrolux 2100 was also similar to these, although I think these used an Ametek motor, wasn't the embassador motor made by Electrolux themselves? Aerus still makes a similar model, it's called the Aerus classic although it now uses a one stage motor, I think it's made by Johnson.
