Vorwerk KOBOLD VK150 - My new toy!

That's a question for Vorwerk to answer, good question though. I think all their models both dirty fan and clean fan models have all been bottom fill. Only the VK140 and VK150 due to the lighter more powerful motor and new design the motor sits above the bag housing. It seems to work and doesn't cause any issues performance wise.

What a beauty, green with envy here. I did try the previous model VK140, and liked it very much, particularly with the new brushless motor. The Vorwerk tool set has always been one of the best available IMHO, cleverly designed and an absolute joy to use.

Last time I bought a new Vorwerk was when the VK130 was out. Back then you could call Vorwerk directly and order over the phone without a demo, and get the full kit for £528. The price has shot up substantially since VK Direct took over distribution. Vorwerk themselves are now gearing up to reenter the UK market once again, although it remains to be seen whether or not there will be any changes to distribution and pricing in the future.

With regard to the bags, although bottom fill they tend to work rather like a Sebo bag. Dust accumulates in the farthest corner first (aided by the airflow), only nearing the inlet collar once full, by which time the bag will be packed almost solid. The bag collar has a sealing flap which closes as you remove it from the machine, keeping the dust inside.

Roger...it would be so wonderful to see a Vorwerk video on your channel. Remember, before the 1960's, many a delicate housewife had the pleasure of hosting a handsome Hoover or Electrolux salesman in her home...usually while hubby was away at work. I'm sure Vorwerk will send a very polite young man who will give you a proper in-home demonstration of his Vorwerk. And if at any point you feel uncomfortable, you can always call in your fierce guard dogs to protect you! :-)

On a serious note: can't understand why Kobold does not see the benefits of a top fill bag...surely they can design a way to do this in their stunning vacs...

Bottom fill bags? You'll find that with Miele's S100/S160 stick vacs. Its the reason I got rid of my "Alternative" Miele stick vac. I couldn't stand it any more. Occasionally when parking it up against a wall after use, I'd notice a little dirt falling out the bottom of its sole plate combi floor head.

The weirdest thing about the Miele is that it has a rubber disc inside that prevents dust from falling out, before the dust bag and opens up once the air flow starts up from the bag. The bags also have a pull strip across the hole but Miele still refuse to fit the handier HyClean style inner flap on the more modern bags.

Infact when I think about it, I think I only ever had one half dust bag full of dirt in the Miele bag before dust started to fall out of it. I have never had a full bag out of that machine in the 8 years of ownership!

I think the Sebo D series is a good design where the air is pulling through the top of bag. Its far less likely to lose suction and airflow than other bagged cylinders or uprights that have to pull through all the dirt in the bag.

Brian, if Vorwerk were to send a brown eyed, vegan, muscle bear with a love of dogs and Abba, I still wouldn't part with £1500 for any vacuum cleaner. Of course If I was able to pay in some other way, I would jump at the chance.

Tell you one of my favs Roger. Do you know this one..... Flying high high like a bird in sky?

I wonder how Bjorn pulled that blonde one? With a sleigh maybe? Haha she was fit!

I like a wide range of music from 60s 70s up to today. I also like a bit of classical jazz and blooooooooos :-)

Is it worth 1500 pounds for a beautified version of the Sebo Felix? Is the performance that much better than the Felix? Hard to imagine it performs any better than Felix especially with a bottom fill bag.

That's it. I love that song. You don't hear it very often.

I'm gonna play it on YouTube later :-)

I expect your fav is "Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight" :-)))))

ROFL Roger! And I thought I was the only cleanerphile who loved disco!

It's so difficult to explain the whole "vacuum cleaner thing" on a date, let alone my love of Eurovision....

*runs back into the closet with my iPod....*

Mark...unlike in Australia, we Canadians are deprived of seeing a live broadcast of ESC. The international French TV5 is available here and they sometimes showed a rebroadcast over the years. I became fascinated by the contest through my Israeli friends here....it's a long story for another thread!!! :-)

"....save your vacuums for me, save all your vacuums for me..."

Haha I watch it every year. Australia are actually entering it this year. They should invite Canada and the US :-)

The UK could come last this time. Nil point!

The first song I sang in public was in primary school and I sung Save Your Kisses For Me, by Brotherhood Of Man.

Mark, Dancing Queen is not my favourite, I like the more obscure Abba songs rather than the big hits.
I wish they would releases "Just Like That" but Benny & Bjorn are having non of it.
